Among humans, as we have discovered from observing you for many centuries, there is a “bias,” if you will, toward expecting the worst in life. And, there’s an even worse bias toward expecting the worst in yourself and in your fellow humans.
You don’t need us to remind you of where that inevitably leads you. It always leads you to the world you see all around you. The world where you dare not trust your fellow humans to act honestly and honorably. And perhaps you don’t even trust yourself to act honestly and honorably.
