Many of you are still feeling things settle into place after the July-August spin cycle. Not everything is quite exactly where it needs to be yet, however there has been great progress in setting new foundations.  The purpose of this spin cycle was to refresh and renew everything that was in your life.

Moving forward, you will find that you gain more and more clarity about what the next steps to take in your life and on your spiritual path are. The opportunities that you always felt were coming are soon to be here. Do not give up on your hope now, but at the same time remember to release you expectations of exactly how you feel those opportunities will fall into place.

One of the easiest traps to step in is a trap filled with expectations. Because those expectations will tell you, even when things begin to arrive in your life, that they are somehow not right or that they are not the exact opportunities you had ordered up. 

As the fog lifts, you first have to take a moment to pause and see what is there. That is why releasing your expectations is so very important. When you hold onto expectations, those expectations control how you see the world around you.

Many of you have had experiences with another person where you can see how their expectations have influenced their actual experience. Think about being in the audience with a psychic on stage, and they say they have a message for someone named Sarah who is creative and does something with children. Your friend Sarah is sitting next to you, is a school teacher, and leads the most wonderful creative lessons for her students.

But, she does not put her hand up because she does not consider what she does to be creative.  Her personal expectation is different from what everyone else can see. This is just one example of how expectations can tell you that something is different from what it truly is.  This is precisely why learning to release all expectations is so powerful.

So, I can hear your next question now. What is wrong with wanting or asking for something specific? There is nothing wrong with this, but there is a subtle art in learning the difference between setting an intention for what you want to create, and making an expectation of what you want.  An intention is clear and direct, but without placing undue restrictions or limitations on anything. An expectation is a set of specific circumstances placed upon your intentions.

Here is how that works. You set the intention of drawing new friends into your life.  You even go further stating specifically that you would prefer spiritually-minded friends who are good listeners. Done, intention successfully set!

Next, (and this is where it gets tricky), comes the Ego’s expectations of how your intentions should show up. Perhaps your expectations are that your friends will be the same gender, same age range, or even live close enough to meet in person. But, those expectations start to put limitations on the who, what, where and when of it. The more expectations you place on something, the more clouded lenses you place in front of you. Each expectation directly influences your clarity, and thus influences how something arrives in your life.

Try examining your process of setting intentions, and see if your Ego (Self) is trying to sneak in some expectations somewhere (whether written or unwritten). It is a very helpful trait to be able to understand the difference, so that you can be prepared to clearly see what lies beneath the fog as it lifts.
