Leap

Leap

Leap

Born of a leap
year, I'm versed in
our time's anomalous
imperfections.

The wood of my
dragon drawing
intervals in rings,
not equilateral lines.

Full circles as
completions, and
doors to wider
ambits.

As we spin
on our axis tilted
just so, our revolutions
portend much.

Seeing again
and again those
things we might
have missed.

Only obvious
once seen; this,
Gaia's inspired
doing.

For, like us,
she is expanding
her sweep, her
panorama.

Seeing what's plain,
camouflaged in the
contrast our kind has
fixated lifetimes upon.

Dividing ourselves every
which way into extremes,
middle ground obscured
in the fog of the fray.

But this bifocal
concentration, its
deadlock all or none,
is inducing a new vision.

An evolution
not before chanced,
so monumental
it appears.

The abyss,
dark though it may
loom, is not desolate,
no, no.

It holds vulnerability
as a gift of power
deep in its
welcome.

For this
birthplace of
untold potential
teems with stars.

Uncharted;
hic sunt dracones
ancient mapmakers note,
as dragons fly here.

Their wings
casting rainbows
promise — spread
against the starlight.

Wings syncing
with wild currents
of air, syncing with
each other, soaring...

high above the land,
high above the rights
and the wrongs, all
so set in stone.

Hieroglyphs
that will tell
of a time of
forged peace.

One odd day, a
master: 2+9=11;
portal to a new way
to be one, of many.

Here,
where we
live and
breathe.

And so we look, hard
— difficult as it is, at
what is and long
has been,

before we leap.

Somewhere over
the rainbow, blue birds
fly, birds fly over the rainbow,
why then o why can't I
