Pachamama
She asks for nothing
from us other than
something quite
within our
grasp to
offer:
a moment.
A pause.
To take in
her beauty,
her bounty,
complexity
and wonder.
It isn't hard,
but does require
a willingness to
notice what's
around us.
All around us.
Blooming before
us. Not merely the
color, but the carry
of those things
that will come
to be.
Their song,
even in the
din of days,
for she
sings
sotto.
Endless
in its artistry,
her imagination,
her inventiveness,
her delight lived
on a grain of
pollen, the
wisp of
willow,
babbles
of brooks,
a mosquito
rising from
its winter
sojourn,
a ballet
not to
miss.
The smile
you happen
to catch like
a firefly in
a child's
open
hand.
This is her
promise. Given
no matter the condition
in which she finds herself.
Her love is yellow.
It is a sun that
cannot die
bathing a
blue that
covers swells
and swallows,
an evanescence
becoming so
much green
if we let
it be what
it is: alive.
Even as she
struggles to
balance her
growth and
ours, she
imparts
her wise
of ways
via the
seasons,
tempests,
the cycles,
and shifts,
the rounds
she steadily
makes wheeling
under this luminal
watch of her,
our star.
Beaming
in kind.
You take
my breath
away, only
to return it
new as a
blade of
spring
grass
rising
to the
morning
sun —
te amo,
te amo,
mama.
