For the New Moon horoscopes read both your Sun sign as well as your Rising sign, or read according to house placement if you know it:
Aries
(6th House) The world may be filled with uncertainties while seemingly collapsing at a frenzied pace, and it’s all we can do to keep up with the constant whirlwind of change. But what we can do is pull out the dust pan and broom, reorganize the shelves, and take stock of our own environments. It not only gives you something to do, but serves as a coping mechanism, allowing you to navigate the hustle and bustle of your daily life. When stressed out, let’s get organized. Things change. And change can sometimes bring stress. But the New Moon in Virgo on Saturday (Friday) gives you the opportunity to make adjustments as needed. It may feel at times that you are needing to recalibrate your schedule every other minute, which an be crazy-making, but these times of change can also be capable of opening you up to the world of possibility. This Moon can be useful in initiating much needed changes. But it could also compel you to make changes that you might not have realized you needed. What might you need to do to support your own or other’s well-being? What adjustments can you make that will help to free you up for what you really want to be doing? Is there something new that you’ve been wanting to try? A good affirmation for the New Moon might be: I am open to the changes that will allow me to create a work and living space that is more efficient, frees up my schedule and makes my life easier.
Taurus
(5th House) New Moons are about new beginnings, and this one is no less. Falling in the sign of Virgo it can also prove to be a catalyst for inspirational change and creative insight. The New Moon in Virgo this Friday (Saturday) could shake us all up to some extent, and kick us out of our lethargy. But it also has the ability to stretch you a bit, in order to inspire you in a new direction. Learn something new, explore possibilities that you might not have previously considered. Maybe take that new art class, create that new herb garden. But also think in terms of those skills and talents that you already have and are just waiting to be unleashed? What are those things that have been holding you back? It may take a little courage to step outside of your comfort zone, but sometimes that is what is needed in order to rise to the next level. On Monday, your ruling planet Venus enters the sign of Leo, a sign that asks you to step out of your own way in order to allow your light to shine more brightly. This is about finding your happiness, finding your joy, being proud of what makes you unique and different, and allowing yourself to release whatever inhibitions may be standing in your way. Therefore a good affirmation for this New Moon might be: When I believe in myself/ and what I have to offer the world, I walk with greater radiance and confidence.
Gemini
(4th House) You might want to use this week’s New Moon in Virgo (Friday/Saturday) to either adjust or make any much needed changes, either at home or somewhere else in your personal life. Whatever changes that have occurred, are happening now, or that you are needing to be made can make a difference. Maybe even move some things around. It’s amazing what can happen when you move a piece of furniture across the room. It changes your perspective and allows you to see the room in a whole new way. Virgo can be a fastidious sign, great for cleaning out the cobwebs, organizing the cupboards and sprucing things up a bit. But it can also be about what adjustments are needed in order to make your home a home. A place where you can feel comfortable, and not have to explain yourself to anyone. If you’ve been planning any sort of changes or in your personal life, this is a good moon for you to work with. It can even happen that changes are made for you at this time, and you find yourself having to make whatever adjustments are necessary in order to ride the wave of change. This can include reaching out to family members, or creating a more work-friendly schedule and environment. The benefits of doing so now, with the New Moon, a time of initiation and new beginnings, could even help to free you up for even better things later on. A good intention for the New Moon in Virgo might be: May I find more effective ways of building bridges, and creating a more secure environment that fosters security, community and belonging.
Cancer
(3rd House) Each New Moon sets the tone for the month. And what this New Moon on Friday (or Saturday) is preparing us for, is some sort of change. Not all changes can be welcome. Some can bring a bit of trepidation, especially if it feels like change can upend your life, or throws a monkey wrench into the picture. Too much change can lead to anxiety and stress. But sometimes when we are willing to stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zones, just enough, it can have a tremendous impact on our minds and our perspective. They also compel us to grow. You have to grow to accommodate the changes. And when you grow, it also increases your potential. Perhaps even beyond your current expectations of yourself. Be open. Be open to new ideas. To receiving new information. To look at a situation from another perspective. You don’t necessarily even need to accept it. Just be open to it. Even in your everyday life, there are opportunities to learn. And even the most ordinary conversations can prove to be enlightening in this weather. If you are wishing to decrease anxiety, make the commitment with the New Moon in Virgo to fill your mind with only the most positive thoughts and influences. Ask yourself: is this information Useful? Is it Necessary, Helpful or Inspiring? If so, then keep it, and put the rest on the shelf.
Leo
(2nd House) On Friday, the Sun enters the sign of Virgo, and then less than 24 hours later we have a New Moon in the very first degree of Virgo, setting the tone for the month ahead. Virgo is a sign of change as it comes at the end of Summer here in the northern hemisphere, as we ready ourselves for Fall. Even though we are still in August, children are readying themselves for school, and we are getting back to the business of getting back to business. However, this particular New Moon is more than just the regular order of business. Things are moving so quickly in fact that a lot of stuff can get lost in the shuffle. Habits are being tested, routines adjusted, and before you know it there is just too much changing all at once. One way to stay at the center of all of this, is by focusing in on the most important things, the things that matter; and being willing to compromise the things that are less important. It’s like triage. Organize your life around those priorities, the things that you most want to spend your valuable time, money and resources on. Remind yourself of who and what is most important right now. And the rest will follow. A good affirmation for the New Moon in Virgo therefore might be: Knowing what my true priorities are is the key to understanding who I am.
Virgo
(1st House) On Friday we enter your season, and immediately celebrate the season with a New Moon in the very first degree of Virgo. The New Moon falls on either Friday or Saturday, depending on where you are in the world, and all those Virgos born within the bounds of August 23rd and the 24th, or are born with 0-3º of Virgo Rising, will be most sensitive to this surge of renewal. Like a rebirth you are beginning your new year, and all Virgos will be privy to the changeable quality of the New Moon this year, now telling you to proceed. And to proceed even in the face of what still feels like a tremendous amount of vagueness and uncertainty. The New Moon in Virgo is not only setting the tone for the month ahead, but also the year ahead for you. And this New Moon implies all sorts of changes lying ahead. Some wanted and anticipated, while others may feel unexpected. This is the first of two Virgo New Moons, the next New Moon being in the last degree of Virgo, as well as a Solar Eclipse. Unpredictability abounds as Virgo strives to keep their feet firmly planted on the ground over the next several weeks. Perhaps a good intention for this New Moon might be: In order to ride the wave of change, I will need to remain ever vigilant and yet flexible enough to roll with the changing tide.
Libra
(12th House) For Libra this is a time of year for withdrawal and inner healing. You do this in order to recoup your energy, and prepare for when the Sun enters your sign in September. At this time of year you are being asked to tie up any loose ends from the year that was, complete any plans or projects that have been lying about, and clear the way for the year to come. Use the New Moon in the first degree of Virgo to set your mind in order as well as the pieces of your life. Like unraveled skeins of thread all tangled together, it is time to separate each of these threads in order to restore clarity and perspective. This could be challenging to do with this particular New Moon which wreaks of chaos and instability. But rather than getting swept up into the maelstrom, find your place at the center of the storm. You will want to do this for your own mental health and well-being. And one way to do this is to organize and untangle the pieces of your life. Create order out of chaos, while also reorganizing the pantry. Libra does some of their best work when they withdraw from the world, and are able to place the focus within. But also be prepared to be surprised and amazed at what you might find there. Virgo is a sign that is intent on restoring health and well-being, therefore a good intention for this new moon might be: Recognizing that health is the greatest of blessings, I will do what I can to promote the conditions for my own and other’s well-being.
Scorpio
(11th House) There is a bit of storminess about the New Moon on Friday/Saturday in the very first degree of Virgo. There is an implication for change with the New Moon square unpredictable Uranus, that also compels us to move in a different direction. One of the things we come to recognize with this New Moon is that we don’t necessarily have to keep doing things the way we always have in the past. That there might be alternatives that are better. The New Moon in Virgo is your wishing moon. Anais Nin once suggested that if you were to throw your dreams into space like a kite, “you do not know what it may bring back: a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country.” This New Moon is your opportunity to toss your dreams into space, and with the square to Uranus, there is no telling whaat they can bring back. One thing that Uranus asks of us is to be a truer, more unique version of ourselves in whichever way we strive. So making your wishes and dreams equal to you, is what is being asked. New opportunities can come from out of the blue with this Moon, or open up new considerations, new associations, new allies who challenge you to be your better self. A good reminder for this New Moon might be that: When I join forces with others who share similar goals and ideals, I can achieve so much more than I possibly could on my own.
Sagittarius
(10th House) The New Moon on Friday (or Saturday depending on where you are in the world), is a Moon implying sudden and swift changes, perhaps even coming from left field. You are being asked to mediate these, make quick decisions, and/or learn to ride the tide like a pro. This won’t be easy, especially if you don’t see it coming. It will require a certain amount of dexterity in order to get you on the right track. This can be hard to do when the track keeps shifting and moving about. One thing you are not so keen about is the idea that these impending changes may compromise your freedom in some way. The thing is, you just don’t know at this point, which makes it difficult to plan out your future, when things keep shifting. Therefore be flexible. Ride the wave of changes with skill and dexterity, taking each day as it comes. 18 months ago you were thinking in terms of possibility and hope for the future. And now you are being tested to stay on course. This is not about giving up. This is about persisting even in the face of unexpected challenges and without knowing precisely what the outcomes will be. There use the New Moon to make the intention to: Recognize and follow the best path forward, trusting that it will bring you precisely where you are needing to be.
Capricorn
(9th House) The New Moon in Virgo is asking you to expand your perspective along with your intentions. This is the time of year in which you ask: “What’s next on the agenda?” “Where am I going from here, and what do I need in order to get there?” What more do you need to know? To learn? To be able to compete in the world? Don’t be surprised if you find yourself suddenly shifting direction, or reevaluating a course of action already in place. If you are not sure about the direction you are headed, this is a really good Moon to seek guidance and inspiration. Note that that guidance and inspiration can come from just about anywhere with this New Moon, and unexpectedly so! And you just may be asked to consider alternatives as a result. But also know that even small changes in your perspective and outlook can have remarkable ramifications. Expand your vision. Look beyond your usual limitations. Be willing to try something new, or do things in a new way. And just be open to possibility. There’s no telling what can unexpectedly arise out of this extraordinary and illuminating New Moon. Therefore a good intention for this New Moon might be: I want to see myself opening up to the realm of new possibility, in order to recognize my own true path.
Aquarius
(8th House) The New Moon in Virgo is a time of new beginnings and prospects. It is a Moon of transitions and changes. And although it may feel a bit unpredictable, or like you are stepping outside of your comfort zone, or your usual haunts, know that by doing so, it is opening you up to all sorts of possibilities. And that can happen by getting out of a period of stalemate, or a rut that you had gotten into. Where have you been stuck? This New Moon aims to un-stick you and free you up. It also wants to help you change up your routines, confront any bad habits, and be open to the idea that you don’t have to keep doing things the way you always have in the past. This New Moon is trying to open you up to alternatives. Alternatives that might even be better than what you were previously accustomed to. Rewrite the script. Replace old habits with new and better ones. Let go of what is no longer working, and be open to the new alternatives that are urging you in a new direction. And know that even small changes in this weather are capable of having remarkable results, perhaps even the opportunity for a whole new way of being. A good intention for the New Moon might be: Through eliminating, cleansing and purifying the past, I clear the way for positive growth and change.
Pisces
(7th House) The Virgo New Moon is when Pisces will often reevaluate their existing partnerships and closest alliances. Perhaps you are thinking in terms of those that have proven to be less than reliable lately. Or perhaps looking for partners or allies that might be more creatively inspiring. There is an inference of sudden change and having to take some detours with this New Moon. But also realize that sometimes what appears to be disruptive may also turn out to be fortuitous in the end. This is because if you are willing and able to ride the wave of change with the New Moon in Virgo, it can open you up to new ideas, perspectives and possibilities. One thing that you could discover through others is that you don’t necessarily have to keep doing things the same way you always have int he past, and that there might actually be better ways of doing things! There’s no telling what you can learn through your interactions with others that seem to open up your eyes in some way, allowing you to see more, sense more and know more as a result. A good intention for this New Moon might be: By finding points of agreement with others, I can do my part in restoring civility and order in the world.
