This September forecast invites a quieter, more contemplative rhythm after months of dramatic arrivals and departures. Rather than outer events stealing the show, the skies ask us to sit with what we genuinely want beneath the surface. The planetary weather here prepares the ground for October's retrogrades and the deeper reviews still ahead.

September brings a change of pace. Unlike the past few months, it’s not a time of comings and goings (and big ones, at that), but of thinking and contemplating and opening to the depths of what we really, truly desire.

The lasting impact is likely to be more internal than translated into events out in the world. And it’s paving the way for deeper dives and reviews when the retrogrades of October roll in.

Communication cycles quickly through three distinct modes. Practical, detail-focused and discerning approaches usher us into the month, with messenger Mercury still in Virgo for the first 10 days.

This mindset immediately runs into obstacles and obligations on September 1. The impulse is to push against them; the more effective approach is adjusting your thinking and taking the opening to implement Plan B, at Mars’ square to Saturn, Mercury’s inconjunct to Saturn and the sextile between Mercury and Mars. This is not the end of the matter; be prepared for another adjustment when the Sun inconjuncts Saturn as well September 5.

Negotiating and seeking common ground become more the norm when Mercury enters Libra September 10 and follows the path and connections that Venus forged in August. (More conversations and more info about that time are likely to result.)

This communication style generally runs more toward politeness and pleasantries – but this time, it’s stirring with palpable, deep and persistent undercurrents. The shift in tone quickly follows socializing and desires plunging into the intense and private realm of Scorpio, which Venus enters that same day.

We’re beginning a thorough and protracted exploration of everything related to money, relationships, values, desires/attractions/obsessions/sex and subterranean impulses underneath them all. Venus will retrograde in this sign starting October 3 and not clear it entirely until early 2027. (She slips back into Libra October 25 – December 4.)

Much of what’s surfacing we normally prefer to keep private, even from ourselves, but that default is in for serious and repeated testing. And much of what we encounter will have some connection to the rewiring everything underwent in July, as Venus contacts each of the outer planets involved in that. The first inkling of more to come coincides with her arrival in Scorpio, when awakening and disruptive Uranus stations retrograde, also on September 10.

Our first reaction is that day as well: installing new information, perspectives and ideas, heavy on analytical thought and with a bent toward improvement, under the Virgo New Moon. Its seeds undergo refinement before they blossom, with the sign’s ruler Mercury forming an air grand trine with change agents Uranus and Pluto September 12 and 13. Innovations, surprises and radical reconstructions flow out of this round robin, with Mercury’s opposition to Neptune adding the challenge of trusting creativity and inspiration that do an end run pass around logic.

These connections follow ones that involved Venus August 10-12, and promise a flurry of realizations, disclosures and conversations with ties to that time. Relationships, financial matters, desires and creativity figure in the retrospective.

Doors open to advancing yourself or people close to your heart, when the Sun sextiles cosmic first responder Mars September 14. (Directing nurturing action toward yourself is definitely on offer, and after the past few months, why not grab the opportunity?)

Meanwhile, those deep subcurrents are swirling ever more noticeably. Desires are becoming impossible to ignore; attractions feel fated (or fatal); subconscious or unseen influences are demanding action. September 15 brings a square between the two rulers of desire and money, Venus and Pluto, which is prompting action no matter what the cost. Relationships on life support get the plug pulled; secret liaisons and triangulations come to light; simmering attractions demand … satisfaction.

As much as you might want to pull the covers over your head and hide until this blows over, the skies have other things in mind. Diversionary or evasive tactics are futile, to be honest. We’re being summoned to deal with relationships, desires, creativity, money and/or values. Raw instinct and lightning strikes of inspiration are calling for adjustments in any or all of them, with Venus the focus of a wide finger of God from Neptune and Uranus, spanning September 15 – 20.

Potent assistance is within reach, most likely from inner or nontangible sources, thanks to September 15’s sextile between Neptune and Pluto – a burning passion, an energetic knowing, a perhaps divinely guided impulse that liberates, emboldens and invites wildly reinventing yourself.

Take a long distance view of responsibilities and commitments, when Mercury opposes Saturn September 18. You may receive word of limits or burdens you don’t much like. Don’t be quiet; don’t be shy. Use Mercury’s sextile to Jupiter September 21 to open yourself to more golden possibilities – and talk, talk, talk to people about them.

The equinox arrives September 22, when the Sun enters Libra and launches autumn in the northern hemisphere and spring in the southern. Venus rules the sign and the season, and her coming retrograde looms in the background. Upstaging her, for the moment, are the Sun’s contacts with the outer planets that rewired us in July. They create tension between our conscious view of ourselves and the energetic inspiration and guidance coursing through our cells, from the Sun’s opposition to Neptune September 25, and innovations, surprises and radical reconstructions, flying off an air grand trine from the Sun to Uranus to Pluto, September 26-28.

Those contacts, and the impact of July’s rewiring, fuel the Aries Full Moon September 26. It’s in communication as well with all the outer planets and especially highlighting the nonrational, non-linear raw fire power of Neptune in Aries. Emotions are high, passionate, volatile and potentially life-changing.

Two noticeable shifts in energy arrive as the month ends. Our drive, actions and agendas ignite into larger, bolder expression, when Mars enters Leo September 27 and embarks on a path blazed by Jupiter, the Sun and Mercury in July and August. His big impacts come in October, but the fire begin to noticeably build now.

And then, communication modes and systems and topics slip into the unspoken and telepathy and reading the room without hinting you’re doing that. Mercury enters Scorpio September 30. His move sets off steam from the square that’s growing to Mars, which will billow next month.

The mode shift also adds to the intensity and competing drives for privacy and revelation that we’ve been feeling for weeks from Venus in Scorpio. His time in these waters is also longer than usual because he’ll retrograde in this sign two weeks after Venus starts her reverse course. Put on your X-Ray goggles; trust your gut; and let intuition be your navigator.
