Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Confirmed Worth Expressed in Personal Transcendence.
As most of you know, the December 2020 Solstice conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn at 1 Aquarius launched new 20 and 200 year eras. This Wesak Festival Full Moon brings a Buddha Wisdom to the entire world. This year’s themes are about a revolutionary wisdom to be offered peacefully after we concentrate on what that wisdom is.
I’ll speak more about the bigger picture after the Sabian Symbols. For now, let’s take a closer look at this Wesak Festival Full Moon happening at 9:56 am PDT on May 12 at 23 Taurus/Scorpio which offers great depth connections while releasing powerful revolutionary energy. The next two weeks will put the focus on understanding the wisdom of our inner worth as a means to transmute something from the material to the ethereal.
As this Full Moon has Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio, the Light of a gentle persistence and firm direction can be expressed through Scorpio’s focused intense scrutiny of the truth that all forms pass away. The light of individual worth and value can now be expressed through what we attract and what we repel which allows us to transmute magnetic energy.
This is a Taurus Light of direct enjoyment expressed through a Scorpio feeling-connection, and begins a two week reminder that as we confirm our worth socially, it opens many doors to different experiences with both the visible and invisible worlds.
So welcome to the second of the "3 High Moons" of the Northern Hemispheric Spring. This Full Moon builds on the life renewal of the Aries/Libra Full Moon, and brings a new form of the "Eternal Buddha Wisdom" to humanity. This Wisdom is then distributed to the world at the Christ Fest, or World Teacher Festival, of the Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius. I'll write more about the Wesak and Christ Fest in coming weeks.
This particular “Buddha Wisdom” is in play for the year, and reminds us that if want to attract something new, we must often set aside the old. As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, in this case the recent New Moon at 8 Taurus, we can use the “knowledge and skill to meet the demands of a stage yet to come” to secure what we need to do our transmutations.
As this Lunation has the Sun in Taurus and Moon in Scorpio, the Light of enjoying life on our own terms is expressed through Scorpio’s magnetism, attracting what we like and repelling what we do not like. This is the Light of a new “fulfilled worth” expressed through the deep attractions and communions shown by the Moon.
Because Taurus/Scorpio is the axis of the archetype of the Warrior/Guardian, we can be the stable focus we want, enjoying ourselves as we know when to advance, when to retreat, when to hold the line, and when to adapt. Guard boundaries and resources, and remember not to clutch at disappearing forms.
The Sun in Earth and Moon in Water shows a time of the Fixed Earth (stabilized practicality) of Taurus expressing its consistent groundedness through the Fixed Water (stabilized feeling experience) of Scorpio. This is the next in a run of Full Moons from October 2024 through June 2025 on the social and emotional levels in their signs.
At this time, 4 planets are in the first third of their signs, 1 planet is in the second third of their signs, and 5 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a major emphasis in the actional-material and individual, mental, and spiritual field, with almost no emphasis on the social and emotional field.
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We are now in a time of the year when the inner planets are in a many month run of making conjunctions with the outer planets. In this chart we have 2 forming oppositions, the Moon opposed the Sun and Uranus. These create “awareness generator” zones between 21-28 Taurus/Scorpio.
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Taurus, ruled by Venus in Aries, which is ruled by Mars in Leo. The Moon is in Scorpio, which is ruled by Mars in Leo. As you can see, the Sun is a major player in the backdrop of rulerships.
Besides the Lunation, Mercury in Taurus is ruled by Venus. Venus in Aries is ruled by Mars in Leo which is ruled by the Sun in Taurus. Mars in Leo is ruled by the Sun, Jupiter is in Gemini, ruled by Mercury in Taurus. Saturn in Pisces is ruled by Jupiter, Uranus in Taurus is ruled by Venus, Neptune in Aries is ruled by Mars, and Pluto in Aquarius is ruled by Saturn. That means all the planets are ruled by the “chain of dispositors” involving Venus, Mars, and the Sun.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames
Venus is at 9 Aries, semisquare the Sun and sesquisquare the Moon, trine Mars and quintile Jupiter. Though Aries is the sign of her “exile,” being a sign opposite one She rules, Venus is very strong while trine Mars which rules the sign of Aries. The quintile brings gifts and blessings, so concentrate to see the whole picture and you’ll overcome any external limiting conditions once you find the right rhythm.
The semisquare and sesquisquares with the Lights throws the friction into 7-11 Libra so when in doubt, return to source and remember your group work. This Full Moon agitates planets we have around 6-13 Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn, as well as 21-28 Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. If you have a planet in any of these zones, “right action” is the guide for whatever you might want to do after seeing things from multiple angles.
If you want to know more about how to shape your Venus power to attract better friends and relations in the future, please consider getting your copy of my book The Magic of Venus: Friendships, Soul Mates, and Twin Flames. It is the most comprehensive book on Venus ever written, and explains why we attract who we do and how to create more satisfying relationships in the future.
You will understand the foundations of long term healthy relationships and friendships, why Soul Mates come into our lives, and learn how to attract better times with better people in the future. Even if you’re not looking for a partner, this book explains why certain people with certain traits came into your life.
It has chapters on the qualities of each sign’s natural mate, the qualities of Venus in each sign, and when crucial choices and changes are made, affecting who we attract in the future. It was written for both astrologers and lay people, and as it has a thousand gems for better relationships, with self, others, and Source, please consider getting your copy by going to the link above! (And when you’re done, please leave a review on Amazon, since it helps the book and all other books on astrology as well!)
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 23 Taurus and 23 Scorpio. It is said that the third third (decan) of any sign deals with the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the third decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Capricorn/Saturn (with an added dose of Saturn) and Scorpio/Mars (with an added dose of Venus).
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 23rd degree of Taurus is "A jewelry shop.” In the original Jones class notes Dane Rudhyar published in The Astrology of Personality, he states this degree is about “Abundance of permanent spiritual values; or social display of traditional racial achievements” and “profusion of inner gifts.”
In The Astrological Mandala,, Rudhyar says this degree is about “the social confirmation of natural excellence.” He offers that this has two elements, the “gems that result from natural processes,” and “the finished products of refined craftsmen.” He says both are prized, and states this symbol “applies to any product in which culturally acquired skill has embellished or transformed the end results of a lengthy and demanding natural process.”
He continues “at this stage we are concerned with the social process which brings about a certification of personal worth.” He states this is in the Span of Enjoyment, and is the synthesis degree of the emotional-social level of Confirmation in the Act of Differentiation.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, offers that this degree is a symbol of "the practical values of everyday living, and of the personal display by which (we) may cherish the rewards of (our) efforts" making them durable. He states this symbolism “is the kaleidoscopic capacity of the world at large for producing and reproducing whatever an individual may require in the way of immediate realities with which to deal.”
He continues that "Here is the luxury which mirrors any marked achievement in character or skills," and he offers the keyword is PRESERVATION. He states that when operating in a positive way, this symbol is “a happy gift for shaping all vision to larger dimensions and directing all aspiration to more than trivial ends."
The Lunar Sabian Symbol for the 23rd degree of Scorpio is "A bunny metamorphosed into a fairy.” In The Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, 23 Scorpio is said to be a symbol of “revelation of vital urges latent in all beings,” “great creative capacities,” and “capacity for self-maintenance.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he says this degree involves “the raising of animal drives to a higher level.” He states “the rabbit is traditionally a symbol of an overabundance of progeny, thus of a great stress on procreative processes. ‘Nature spirits,’ on the other hand, represent the higher aspect of life energies, as they are said to guide those normally invisible forces controlling the growth of all living organisms, particularly in the vegetable kingdom.”
He offers that his symbol “refers to the transmutation of the generative power into a more ethereal and subtle form of potency,” and says this “brings a new dimension” to this sequence. “Whether it is the sexual desire for a progeny, or aggressiveness, the instinctual urge can be raised to a new level” through the process of “transubstantiation.” He says it falls in the span of Appreciation and it’s the synthesizing degree of the emotional-cultural level of the scene of Faith in the Act of Group Integration.
According to Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, the degree is one of “the inner or creative values of everyday living, and of the personal or more dynamic meanings with which (we) may endow the least of things around (us.)” He states this symbolizes “the kaleidoscopic capacity of (our) imagination, or the extent to which (we) may mold and remold the everyday reality with which (we) deal.”
He tells us “Here is poetry of soul as it mirrors each person’s ongoing achievement in character and skill,” and offers us the keyword TRANSITION. He states when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “the thorough self-conquest by which an individual subordinates his naïve and animal impulses to his ideals and aspirations.”
So the specific theme of the Sun involves a display of something of social worth or our spiritual values to shape our future in skillful ways. These will be expressed in some way by the Moon which brings about a transmutation of animal energy into a higher, more subtle ethereal realm. Here we get to enjoy our worth while expressing it in ways which help others transform in some way. This is the Light of solidity which can lead to forms of life renewal which transform our ego to deepen our connections between us and God, Spirit, or our Higher Self.
We’re in an Era of Overlapping Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles
As you know by now, we had numerous important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March 2020, including a 12 year cycle and a 33 year cycle! Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto all made conjunctions in Capricorn in January and March 2020 which were activated by Mars in March 2020. Mars completed its run at its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius which also set long wave preliminary Aquarian structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape for the next 16-17 years. The next few weeks renews that Aquarius pulse, and promises 2024 to be a very “Aquarian” year!
We’re seeing the competition between the Capricorn and Aquarian cycles play out in the world between the regressives and the progressives, between the forces of control and the forces which resist control, and between the materialists and the idealists. The Capricorn cycles will be in play for many years to come, but by mid-century they will wane while the Aquarian cycles will have become dominant.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published yesterday.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Spiritual Lessons of 2024. I’ll be updating that material soon. We have now returned to a time where we are finalizing our ability to get over prejudices and preconceptions and approach all with a sense of spiritual fellowship.
*********
At the 2020 World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on EarthFrom the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to EarthFrom the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serveFrom the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Wesak Festival Buddha Wisdom Full Moon confirming our worth.
