A Guide to Creating a Holistic Living Environment and Why Is It Important

A Guide to Creating a Holistic Living Environment and Why Is It Important

When talking about our well-being, mental health, and peace of mind, we rarely think about the environment we live in. This time we are not talking about spending time in nature and the benefits of that environment on our well-being, rather we are concentrating on our direct surroundings-our home. This is a place we spend most of the time in and it is worthwhile making it the most comfortable and pleasant place in the world since it can affect our health and mood on a day to day basis. This is something that the holistic approach and Feng Shui teaches us, and this is what you need to know.

Organize the workspace to help with your productivity

Organize the workspace to help with your productivity

Many people have to work or study from home. Even in normal circumstances, it can be quite challenging to concentrate at times and finish everything efficiently. Decorating and organizing our home and more specifically our workspace in a certain way can contribute a lot. It has been proven that the best work environment is clean and uncluttered, with some details that are going to inspire creativity and motivate you. The blue color is often associated with intellectual work and bringing peace and calm, which is why this color would be perfect for your workspace. A cleanly organized desk will make you stay focused and concentrated. A pinboard is cute yet efficient in making all your daily tasks organized so that you don't forget anything. A good way to motivate yourself is to hang posters with positive messages that you will be able to read whenever you feel down. This will be beneficial as well as decorative.

Feel relaxed in a special corner of your own

The place we normally feel the most relaxed in is our home, however, some additional work can’t hurt. You know those nights when you come from work, tired and you want to relax with a glass of wine or dinner, or lazy Sundays you want to spend in maximum comfort? Well, create a cozy space just for that. It can be your living room, your kitchen or terrace, it doesn’t matter as long as it keeps you relaxed and happy. Your little oasis can be full of fluffy cushions and comfortable chairs, with a small bookshelf right next to it and a little coffee table to hold your big cup of coffee. To make it even more enjoyable, get a plant, which will make the space even more beautiful. It can also be a perfect metaphor for life and growth and remind you daily to never stop and give up. Lavender, for example, will smell great, look beautiful and help you deal with anxiety and stress.

Indulge by buying small things

Buying details for your home, such as candles, pillows, lamps or photo frames definitely warms up the place and makes It homier and more comfortable. It is those details that fill us with enthusiasm and happiness, no matter how small they are. Having nice dishes and placemats may not be at the top of your list of things that make you fulfilled, but there is something in having all those things because we are sprucing up our living space to make it fit our wishes. And this leads to contentment. Our furniture, décor or even kitchen elements can make us feel happy. If you like to have nice kitchen supplies, unique and classic designs of Wedgwood cutlery, dishes, serving plates and even teapots can bring you back to your grandmother’s house or make you feel like you are having lunch in the most sophisticated restaurants.

The importance of lights and color

The importance of lights and color

One of the main things people look for in a house is to be bright and have lots of natural light. And it is for a good reason. Bright rooms look spacious, open and welcoming, which is exactly how you want your home to be. It makes it easier to do your everyday tasks and chores and feel positive, happy and optimistic. Brightly colored walls give the illusion of a bigger space, which is a helpful tip when you are decorating a small room. Colors can also help with your mood. The blue color is soothing, red is strong and making a statement, purple is associated with spirituality. With any of these, you can play with details to complete everything. Family photos to make it warm, nice blankets for coziness or paintings to admire and appreciate art. One more thing that we mentioned important for any living space is plants. In Feng Shui practices, cactus is considered a plant which saves you from intruders, and a blooming cactus should remind you to reach towards the heavens. Lotus flower helps you get into a meditative state and helps you live in the present moment.

To some it may seem superficial and unimportant to invest time, money and creativity into creating a perfect living environment. However, if you do decide to do it, you will soon begin to see positive changes in your mood, behavior, and motivation. Make your place warm, open, comfortable and pleasant, and you will feel the same too.
