Messages from Angels: Your Vibe of the Year

My dear friends, we love you so very much,
There is a tradition that has arisen in recent years of selecting a personal "word of the year."
People choose their word carefully and with deliberate intent, knowing they will use it as a guiding light and a reminder of personal priority in the months ahead. We love the idea. We support any practice that helps you feel happier, clearer, or more intentional. However, we would refine the practice just slightly and encourage you to choose not just a word, but a "vibe of the year."
If you were to reach the end of the year feeling, for example, more joyful, calmer, clearer, more enthusiastic, hopeful, or vital—we would celebrate with you. A new vibration and all the life changes that go along with it are within reach, no matter where you start today.
To choose your "vibe of the year," simply ask yourself, "Dear Divine Spirit, what is the most beneficial vibration for me to focus on during the year ahead?" Trust the very first thing you hear.
The ultimate vibration is, of course, love. If you lived in love with yourself and all of life a majority of the time, many of your problems would melt away. However, within the vast spectrum of love, there are many vibrations, and some that will feel more like love to you right here and now.
Once you have your vibration, ask yourself: How can I experience more of this vibe today? What small changes can I make? What would I need to release?
For example, suppose the vibration of vitality arises as important in your life right now. What small change could help you experience more vitality? Perhaps you can drink a little more water. Some of you might enjoy more rest, while others will want to walk or practice gentle movement to feel more vital. You can inhale the fresh morning air or turn off your electronics for a few minutes of silence before bed. There are so many small ways to experience the vibration of vitality—even with a body that is struggling, and even before you heal.
Suppose the vibration that arises is joy. How can you add a little more joy to each day? Perhaps you can make your favorite beverage and spend a few quiet minutes savoring it each morning. Maybe you can order a meal service if cooking doesn't delight you, or spend more time in the kitchen if it does. You can let your calls go to voicemail to finish a task that is important to you, or you can call your dear ones more often. What feels like joy to one person will be different for another. You know yourself better than anyone else on Earth.
Suppose your desired vibration is peace. What small changes might bring more peace into your life? You might clean out a drawer that annoys you, or unsubscribe from email lists you no longer care about. You can spend less time around people who like to complain and more time in nature, or on the patio. You can close your eyes briefly and virtually visit a "happy place." You can focus on what is good rather than what is disturbing. Even a small shift in mindset can help you attune to more peace.
Start small. Celebrate every victory. And as you gain momentum throughout the year, even in spite of the wobbles that are sure to arise, you will gradually practice the vibration you desire until it becomes your new normal.

Hi Everyone,
This was such a fun angel message! I've never heard of a "Vibe of the Year," but I love the idea. When I dove within to ask my spirit for mine, I heard "clarity." It wasn't something I'd consciously thought about, but it made perfect sense.
When I'm clear and focused, life flows with clear, focused guidance and grace. When I'm riding high in a creative vibe and clear on the next project I wish to complete, I accomplish all my tasks with ease. But by the end of the year—and especially this one—the demands on my energy, the number of people needing attention, the interruption of technical challenges, and the normal busyness of the holiday season left me completely scattered. I knew I wasn't in focus when I'd go to the computer for a bit of information that should have taken 30 seconds to retrieve, and two hours later, after answering 100 emails and missing dinner, I'd forget why I even sat down. Of course, the more scattered I got, the more challenges arose. It's the law of the universe. Focus creates focused support and guidance. Scatterbrain attracts more to scatter me. Clarity sounds wonderful!
As I pondered how to bring more moments of clarity into my life, it didn't take long to get clear! I recalled an exercise the angels have shared many times: pick three top priorities for the day (other than work) and prioritize them over everything else—unless, of course, someone in your personal life is in crisis.
It might be a challenge at first. I have a lot on my plate and a lot of people I love. But I can start small and ease back into the laser-focused clarity I know how to create. I can write down my top three priorities for the next day before bed and ask Spirit to help arrange the day ahead. I can be clear on each micro-movement in my life and focus on that with exclusive presence. When I'm folding laundry, I can focus on folding. When I'm eating, I can focus clearly on the experience and enjoy it. When I wake up, I can focus on my exercises to the exclusion of everything else, and when I'm answering emails, I can be fully committed to that focus.
Vibration, unlike action, is easier to change. Small shifts lead to bigger results. As we tune into any vibration, in any small way, its effects will show up in greater measure throughout our lives.
For example, if you make it a priority to find small ways to feel vital and good in the body—perhaps enjoying a cup of your favorite tea or the feel of a cozy sweater—your body will relax, your vibration will rise, and little by little you'll experience more physical vitality.
As I focus on being clear and present for all the little tasks at hand, it will free up my attention and energy to receive more clarity about what I want to create and offer next.
As you focus on micro-moments of peace, you'll more easily find the vibration of peace and attract more peaceful circumstances into your life.
If you want to play the "Vibe of the Year" game, here are a few playful pointers:
1. Don't overthink it
Picking a vibe to focus on will help you practice tuning. You may want clarity, joy, peace, balance, vitality, and so much more—but by allowing yourself to pick and prioritize one vibration, you can more easily and consistently practice the art of tuning. And when you learn to tune, you have a life skill that will benefit you in every area of life.
2. Write a letter to yourself a year from now
Imagine that twelve months from now, future-you is more clear, vital, joyful, or whatever vibration you chose. Imagine future-you has succeeded in embracing your vibe of the year. Write a letter from future-you to now-you explaining how you got where you are, what you did to tune into your vibe of the year, and how it feels to be in a life where that vibe is present most of the time. Write as if it has already happened. Make it up. Have fun with it. Then mail it to yourself and open it at the end of the year.
3. Create micro-moments of tuning
Think of the smallest ways you can attune to your vibe of the year. For example, if it was "joy," what very small things might feel like joy to you? Imagining your dream vacation? Playing fetch with your gleeful dog? Talking a walk? Playing your favorite high school disco music and dancing like no one is watching? Get creative and give it a try. The more micro-moments you can create that attune you to your vibration, the more ideas you'll have.
4. Celebrate every small victory!
When you've managed to find and feel your "vibe of the year," no matter how small the thought or action that got you there, celebrate! You just learned the fine art of tuning! The more you celebrate your victories, no matter how small, the more you can encourage yourself and create greater moments. You might just feel me doing the happy dance when I feel clear and focused on the task at hand!
I love this "Vibe of the Year" game. As the kids say, I'm going sendy on it—all in, fully committed, with zest and enthusiasm! At best, I'll accomplish more of my heart's desires. At worst, I'll enjoy more meals, get in better shape, and love the bursts of time in stillness
