2023 Cancer New Moon

I had always been draw to the Mysteries even as a child looking up at the night sky and seeing the Milky Way filled with thousands of Starry Ones.

It was the beginning of my search for meaning and the search for my true self. In 1990, after a ten year relationship broke up, I needed something to inspire me and began studying astrology in-depth. Along the way I discovered the link between astrology, numerology, and The Tarot. I am still learning.

The sign of Cancer is linked to the sacred number 7.  This Cancer New Moon is active on the Tarot Constellation of The Chariot; mastery through change and stepping onto the Mystical Path. The Chariot is drawn by two horses (our emotions) trying to go in different directions (duality). It is up to us, the charioteer, to find inner balance and channel that into the horses (freedom of movement) so they take us where we want to go. The other energy on this Tarot Constellation is The Tower; destruction or liberation, guided by Mars, action and breakthrough. This Moon cycle is filled with the power of mastery. Will you embrace it?

The planetary dance during this Moon cycle is intense, dramatic, and dynamic. The sign of Cancer is concerned with home, family (the one we have created and the one we grew up in) our roots, origins and ancestry. It is also asking where do I belong. The Sun/Moon are located at 24 degrees Cancer 58 minutes. They are guided by Sister Moon, connecting with your inner knowing and intuitive wisdom. Our balanced emotions are powerful guides if we listen to their messages. This New Moon is in opposition (balance and integration) to Pluto Rx at 29 degrees Capricorn 13 (the ability to respond to transformation, and release what no longer serves us). It is also trine (the removal of obstacles) Neptune Rx at 27 degrees Pisces 36 (mystical connection and truth or illusion). Pluto and Neptune are sextile each other (new doorways opening new opportunities for your life). But there is a curve ball here which we will describe shortly.

The Moons Nodes are in transition at this New Moon. The North Node (new directions) has been in Taurus since Jan 2022 (what is of true value and importance, personal empowerment) and the South Node has been in Scorpio (healing the past, release, and transformation). About an hour and a half after the time of this New Moon they enter new energies The North Node enters Aries (inspired new beginnings) and the South Node enters Libra (healing old relationship patterns). This energy is with us until Jan 2025. At this turning point they are squared by Pluto in Capricorn (motivation for change and finding new ways of doing things). This is personal and universal. This square aspect is with us until mid-Aug giving us time to identify what we want to transform and release so we can move into the new.

Coming back to the Pluto and Neptune sextile. They are forming a Yod aspect with Venus in Leo (courage, strength, and compassion). A Yod is called the finger of god, fate, or destiny. It is a V shape with Pluto and Neptune at the top and Venus at the bottom. The focus is on Venus (what do you love). Venus is the planet of relationship, creativity, and in Leo, passion. She will retrograde on July 22/23 asking us to redefine what love means. At that time she will also form a Yod with the South Node in Libra and Neptune in Pisces (illusion or illumination in relationship). That will be her retrograde theme. Be prepared for profound insights. We will expand on that in the coming days.

Our Animal Totem guide for this Cancer New Moon cycle is Flicker Woodpecker who connects us to the heart beat of Mother Earth and guides us through life transitions with all healing love. The Earth is in Capricorn travelling with Pluto. They are guided by Snow Goose who supports us to follow our hopes, dreams, and Soul Vision. They are reversed for the Southern Hemisphere.

For all of us Loves All Things is the Clan Mother for this Moon cycle. She is the mother of unconditional love. For Capricorn we are guided by Talks With Relations the mother of the planetary family and honouring the sacred space of all life.
