Always Follow Your Heart

We are often urged to follow our hearts. But how many of us do it consistently?
In my own personal experience, and in talking with others about their experiences, I find two significant blocks to following our hearts.
First, we’re too easily swayed by the opinions of others.
Second, we do not trust ourselves and our own inner guidance.
Here are some thoughts from Spirit.
Spirit
Many of you were taught, as little children, not to follow your hearts. Instead, you were told others’ opinions mattered more than your own. And you carried that perspective with you from the innocence of childhood into the forgetfulness of adulthood.
As you grew in years and physical maturity, you forgot the wisdom of your child-self. Your “authority” became whatever other people’s opinions were. Those opinions were often embodied, and even formalized, in many different ways—in your religions, governments, educational systems, and so on.
You will never, ever find any higher or better or wiser guidance than your own inner voice—or as you sometimes say, that “still, small voice within.”
The opinions of others do not matter. We are not saying you should never listen respectfully to others. But we are saying you should always run their opinions through the “filter” of your own inner guidance.
Trust your feelings—they are your clearest form of communication between you and your higher self, between you and God.
One individual standing alone and free of the opinions of others can make a huge difference.
By making your inner guidance your highest, best, and final authority, you will have released yourselves from the prison of other people’s opinions.
Always follow your heart.
I watch a lot of videos to find the ones that fit our posts best. This, in my opinion, is one of the most inspiring, uplifting of those I’ve seen:
In the early 1980s John took a spiritual development course, and was introduced to his first spirit guide, Lydia. After Lydia arrived, three other guides also came to him: Archangel Michael, Tamarra, and Chief Joseph. Today these are John’s four main guides.
Besides his four main ones, John has various other guides. The entire group is really a multidimensional collective consciousness. John refers to the entire group simply as “Spirit.”
