Here’s my spiritual guidance August/September 2024, covering the month beginning with the Leo new moon on August 4th at 12.13pm (in the UK).

Every new lunar month I draw one card from the Thoth Tarot to explore the key energy to navigate by during the coming four weeks, and then take a quick look at the astrology.

Spiritual guidance August/September 2024 from the Tarot

The Star card beams its glowing abundance of guiding light from the spiritual and cosmic realms to you this lunar month. It represents the sign of Aquarius, whose age of unity and community we’re now in, so you can expect a nourishing flow of healing, optimism, and understanding onto the planet. Over the next four weeks there’s going to be an infusion of the highest frequency consciousness and life force into our bodies and minds.

You do, of course, have to choose to receive it. Give yourself regular time and space to connect and open up to receive this beautiful energy. Depending on where you are on your journey and what you most need at this time, it can bring unconditional love, peace, healing, confidence, inspiration, insight, and hopes and dreams for a better future. As the Aquarian card of soul, it extends its blessings far beyond just the personal.

Here’s a simple practice to use this month. Sit quietly, breathing deeply into your belly. Acknowledge the supportive earth beneath your feet and the spacious starry sky above your head. Feel your body as the living bridge between these two, and the continual flow of energy that moves in both directions through you.

Take a few minutes to receive the flow for yourself, noticing with care and curiosity whatever sensations, thoughts, or feelings arise within you. Welcome them, sit with them, allowing them to be there with compassion.

Now bring to your mind and heart the people, places, and animals you love, and allow this energy to stream out to them. Recognise with gratitude the joy and beauty they bring to you. Feel and know the love and life force that connects you to them, always. Widen your loving focus to wherever you see and feel pain, suffering, conflict, and misunderstanding. Bathe it all in the free-flowing, silver rose light of The Star of Spirit.

Before you leave the meditation, ask for one small step you can take to realise what you have received. It might be as simple as visiting an ill neighbour, booking yourself a healing or reading appointment, or as complex as initiating a community project. Write it down as a pledge to act on.

The important thing is to translate the promise from the realms of mere hopes and dreams into practical physical reality and form. Only you can do that. You are the hands and eyes and voice of Spirit in this world. There’s no better time than now to manifest in your life and the world of which you are a part whatever it is you wish to experience and see. More generally, developments in the world are likely to look a whole lot brighter and more promising. I immediately think of the new Government in the UK and the announcement of Kamala Harris as presidential candidate. Both of these recent events, which exert considerable impact on global affairs, have resulted in the kind of upsurge of optimism and hope I haven’t seen for a long time. May it be reflected in concrete changes for the good of all, guided by the spiritual values of love, compassion, unity, justice, and equity.

The Leo new moon on the 4th August is sextile to expansive Jupiter in Gemini, offering encouraging promises of better things to come as long as they’re rooted in a wider perspective. Mercury goes retrograde the following day, inviting a rethink and time to re-examine the facts. Mercury conjuncts with Venus on the 8th, providing the perfect day to collaborate with others to produce a creative solution.

Heading towards the full moon on 19th, the planets form a historical alignment that energises the hope and dream of regeneration. A new way of thinking is needed that must destroy as well as create, and embrace necessary limitations. The full moon in Aquarius on the 19th should point the revolutionary way forward. Uranus goes retrograde on the 1st September and Pluto (planet of transformation) moves briefly backwards into Capricorn on the 2nd, so any pie in the sky dreams have to be tempered by realistic thinking.
