My dear friends...

I was thinking the other day of all that I have received in Life Itself, and of how much I have been willing to give to the Universal Governance for all that it provides. Wouldn’t it be interesting if there was a “tax” on all that is incoming from the Universe each year? I wonder how such a “tax” could be paid…

I have some ideas about that. Supposing the “tax” was paid in Love? Like the dollar, which is made up of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and half-dollars, so, too, could Love be said to be made up of smaller units: patience, understanding, compassion, acceptance, generosity, a willingness to listen, to share, to “be there” for another, to keep one’s word, to be honest in all things, to be a “best friend” every day.

I have not always been willing to “pay” this “tax” in return for all that I have received from life. It has been said that everything in life comes with a price, but I have not been willing to pay the price for all the good things I have received. I see that when I look around me and observe how other people are.

I know many people who are incredibly emotionally generous. I know many people who are marvelously patient. I know many people who are invariably kind and understanding. And I know people who are good humored and easy to be with. I would not describe myself in any of these ways. And that makes me sad.

Now I want to make one thing very clear. There IS no “tax” from heaven on the good things we have received from Life Itself. We know from reading What God Wants that God wants and needs nothing at all. So please understand that I’m making this all up here. 

Having said that, I also know that “what goes around, comes around.” The Universe is just a big copying machine, and it sends us duplicates of what we make originals of. So if we want to be a real “original,” we may want to look at breaking out of old patterns and trying something new.

For me, that looks like letting go of a lot of tired ways of being. I am tired of being less than who I truly am, and I am ready now to move to the next level in the day-to-day experience of myself. I am also tired of the world around me being what it is, but I cannot expect IT to change if I am not willing for ME to change.

This week has been particularly challenging for me, in that I have been confronted with repeated opportunities to look at my life and peer deeply into it, exploring where I have been (not a pretty picture, in terms of how I have treated other people) and where I wish to go. I am begging myself to do better. I am urging myself to rise up to new levels of awareness and commitment and growth. I am daring myself to reach beyond what have been my lifelong limitations. I am better than I have been demonstrating. I am larger. I can be more.

This, as you may have noticed, has been a recurring theme in my life. I want now to end the frustration of my highest potential not achieved. I want this for our planet as well. And, you see, as I have said, what I want for the planet I must want for myself.

I hope and pray that people everywhere might come to a new understanding of themselves and of who they really are, a new awareness of life and what it is really all about, and a new experience of That Which Is Divine which will allow them to embrace their God with joy and not fear, celebration and not trembling.

I am so grateful to all of you for the many emails and letters you have sent, telling me how much the Conversations with God material has meant to you. I hope that we will all go out now and demonstrate and LIVE this wonderful freedom-giving message with all those whose lives we touch, for the world desperately needs a model for a new message of hope and unconditional love and freedom for the soul right now.
