The Magic Of Sufi Dancing

da

Dear Friends,
have you ever heard of the spiritual practice called Sufi dancing. It is a well known and deeply centering sacred technique for divination in the Sufi tradition. By twirling the body first in one, than in the other direction are not only the two inner energy fields of the divine masculine and the divine feminine triggered to balance their forces, but also the center of the I AM presence is deeply feelable for the the practitioner.

If you want to give it a try, I recommend you choose a slow pace music and start off with one hand on the belly and one hand in front of your eyes. That helps with stabilizing the emotional world, when the swirling movement threatens to get to much. Set yourself a time for one direction and than turn and do the same amount of time in the other direction. I am already very interested to hear what your discoveries are bringing!!! Have fun!!

Not a believer in the mosque am I,
Nor a disbeliever with his rites am I.
I am not the pure amongst the impure,
I am neither Moses nor Pharaoh.
Bulleh, I know not who I am.

Not in the holy books am I,
Nor do I dwell in bhang or wine,
Nor do I live in a drunken haze,
Nor in sleep or waking known.
Bulleh, I know not who I am.

Not in happiness or in sorrow am I found.
I am neither pure nor mired in filthy ground.
Not of water nor of land,
Nor am I in air or fire to be found.
Bulleh, I know not who I am.

Not an Arab nor Lahori,
Not a Hindi or Nagouri,
Nor a Muslim or Peshawari,
Not a Buddhist or a Christian.
Bulleh, I know not who I am.

Secrets of religion have I not unravelled,
I am not of Eve and Adam.
Neither still nor moving on,
I have not chosen my own name!
Bulleh, I know not who I am.

From first to last, I searched myself.
None other did I succeed in knowing.
Not some great thinker am I.
Who is standing in my shoes, alone?
Bulleh, I know not who I am.
Bulleh Shah

The Dance of Angels
He spins and spins and spins
To remove all three layers of him
And with devout discipline
He spirals to ignite the light within.

He becomes a part
Of the solar system
And spirals to its cosmic hymn.

His soul transcends through
The mouth of God
To join the source
Of everything.

He turns and turns and turns
To open up windows to the universe
And with each circle of love he twirls
The love in his heart
Radiates and bursts.

His thirst for a meeting with the divine
Has been his only quest since birth,
And while rotating like the hand of time
He sings the ‘AH’ of an angel’s verse.

As he turns and turns and turns
A million emotions and vibrations submerge
A luminous spectacle worth a million candles,
The Sufi dancer is poetry without
words.
