ALWAYS TRYING TO PROVE YOURSELF

Dear One,

For as long as I can remember, you have been desperately trying to prove yourself to a world that has no interest, nor is it capable of seeing beyond the surface and deep into your heart and core.

Longing to be seen and craving for a love so deep the ocean would be jealous, as one of your Earthly angels once expressed it so poetically, you have been giving yourself away to strange things and even stranger people. 

Day after day, month after month and year after you, you have been exhausting yourself chasing illusions – putting on show after show and trying on mask after mask and costume after costume – all in the hope that that one day… maybe one day, the love and validation you have been frantically seeking in all the wrong places, will finally find you.

I know you still believe that there is a lot in you that needs changing, fixing, discarding and correcting and that you have to try real hard to prove yourself and your worth to others, but I want you to ask yourself this question:

Where is the peace in treating yourself as if you are broken and need fixing?

And of course, you know the answer. There is no peace in fixing.

The Futility of Trying to Prove Yourself

Contrary to what you were led to believe, you are not broken, nor do you need fixing. What you need is to let go of this endless need to beg from others what only you yourself can offer yourself.

What you desperately need is to close your eyes to the world around you, and everything you once believed to be so powerful and oh, so real, and discover the true power and real beauty that lies within. 

You are not flawed; you only think you are. And your thoughts are not real, nor do they matter.

You are the only one who truly matters. 

Who you are deep within – beyond all fears, insecurities and confusion – your beauty, your grace, your love, wisdom and power, they are far greater than any great musician can sing, any great painter can paint and any great poet can write about.

You are everything you have been seeking and so much more. But unless you learn to trust yourself; unless you learn to rely on the wisdom that is present within you, you will not know this great truth. And you will continue to look outside yourself for scraps of pleasure and fulfillment – desperately trying to prove yourself to others – when in fact, a great treasure lies deep within you.
