Today we examine how “to be heaven on earth,” and become the heaven we seek.

A friend in a spiritual FB group offered this a year ago, and it bears a new look. He stated: “Divine creative energy is continually emerging” and offered us these two gems from revered mystics: "In this life we are to become heaven so that God might find a home here." (Meister Eckhart) and "We are more truly in heaven than on Earth." (Julian of Norwich).

I responded: “When I began remembering 24/7 that I'm an Eternally Loving Wise Intelligence temporarily inhabiting a body with feelings and thoughts, I found over time that a healthy detachment from the big illusion became easier.” Over the years I have come to understand we are “grounding heaven on earth” because we are “grounding the eternal in the temporal.” We are Spirits in the material world.

When I began identifying with the view that I AM a Spirit/Soul Intelligence and not my body, feelings, or thoughts, it was easier to see how my body is eternally changing and my feelings and hamster mind needed both understanding and discipline. Then it became easier to detach from all the random things I used to think and feel and observe what moved them and why.

That in turn revealed many things about my subconscious mind I had never examined. Once I began allowing the material to come up for observation (without the need to act on it or repress it) I began to understand the big illusion we buy into as we learn what we learn throughout life.

Most people are freaked out about things because they have learned freaking out is an acceptable response to the unknown. Unfortunately, while “misery loves company” and so most people continue to freak out about things they don’t understand, it’s really an unhealthy response to fall into.

Freaking out doesn’t really accomplish much of anything except generate more freaking out. That’s why psychology teaches us to “name the demon.” When we face what we fear and name it for what it is, it loses power over our mind and feelings.

The world has many illusions and delusions, and we have to learn to distinguish these so we aren’t the victim of them. I learned a long time ago not to give any illusion any more power than it deserves, which is none. Do not give illusions power. They are illusions, and therefore unreal. They may seem apparently real, or even conditionally real, but in the long run, they are illusions which will fade away. Do not buy into illusions.

Everything changes except our Soul/Spirit. We don’t achieve them. We ARE them. We ARE Love and the Wisdom of our experience as expressed in our Intelligent Actions (as well as intelligent non-action!) The more I identify with my Eternal Love “Is-Be-Ness,” the less I am distracted by illusions, and the easier it is for me to see things as they are, with both joy and resignation in the eternal state of awareness which knows a peace beyond the changing illusions of the world.

As a Sage once sang, “Guiding your vision to heaven, and heaven is in your mind.” When we remember we are Eternals, we stop pushing against time and become Time itself. When we stop wanting the joys of heaven when we die and begin experiencing the joys of heaven we ARE, we become the heavenly joy we seek. Then we’re not waiting to love; we ARE Love itself.

In this time of uncertainty and the debate about whether to stay quarantined or begin to re-enter the world of interactions in person, please remember you are not that which is afraid, or worried, or freaked out. Take care of yourself, do what you must to stay disease free (as we must do anyway throughout our lives), and remember you ARE an Eternal having your thoughts, feelings, and body sensations. Take a moment to re-identify with that part of you which always loves and rejoices in your connection to the root of Life itself.

You are Love inhabiting a body. And that’s a very good thing.
