- Sabian Symbols Showing the Light of Shifting Attachments
Expressed As Sorrow Transfigured into Joy -
This Full Moon is the eleventh one since the Grand Mutation waveform was activated at the end of March, and the second since the Solstice conjunction launched a new long term era! We’re headed into the future!
Remember that we had several extraordinarily important long wave conjunctions in January 2020 which were set into motion in March. All the conjunction points made by Sun, Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto in January and March were activated by Mars in March, and its conjunction with Saturn at 1 Aquarius set long wave structures into play which are expanding and currently taking shape.
That “Great Compression” of planets in early 2020 created a very crowded house in a very narrow span of degrees, impacting the houses where we have late Capricorn for many years to come. Add the three conjunctions of Jupiter with Pluto as it transited back and forth over the January and March degree points, and we’ve had a lot of long wave Pluto energies tremendously expanded which will show effects over the next decade! If you’re wondering how this Great Compression and those to come will impact us, please check out the linked articles on the bottom of Part 1 of this series published previously.
As the Full Moon fulfills the themes of the previous New Moon, we now can take the energies of our “search for transcendent security” and understanding we’ve been experiencing since the New Moon and now can re-focus through an Aquarius-Leo lens. This one helps us step back from old projections and find a liberating freedom in expanded communications. That which used to be popular will not be any more, with the void opening our ability to plan something anew.
Saturn continues to be incredibly powerful as it moves into Aquarius and now shows us the way to expansion is to trust our ancestral wisdom, rely on antecedents, and sets the backdrop to our ability to understand why we are no longer attracted to certain things. It continues to give structure and substance to the themes of the first 5 degrees of Aquarius set into motion at last year’s Mars/Saturn and Jupiter/Saturn conjunctions, as well as the recent Mercury conjunctions with Saturn and Jupiter.
The wave that began last April and was given wings in December will take clearer shape as Saturn moves across the first half of Aquarius this year. Last year we were “galvanized into action” to be “liberated from adverse conditions.” This year Jupiter will give us an expansive view of all of Aquarius between now and mid-May, with a review in August and September before we take a third look at the last part of Aquarius before Jupiter races through Pisces in 2022.
Maintain joy as well as internal and external communications as you expand into the new era, since as time flows on our new world will not look anything like our old one. A greater balance is being restored after the extreme conflicts and oppressive structures of the past year. Allow the favorable recent Solar Eclipse in Sagittarius to remove all which would block your happiness, and you will find yourself lighter and brighter for the experience.
The Sun in Air and the Moon in Fire shows a time of the Fixed Air (stable associative interactivity) of Aquarius expressing its synthesized vision of a greater ideal through the Fixed Fire (stable active inspiration) of Leo. As all the planets are in maximum compression, we continue to be squeezed in many ways, with everything converging in the part of our chart between late Capricorn and early Taurus. We enter a time of emotional, social, and cultural fulfillment at the beginning of a new individual, mental, and spiritual understanding with our Spiritual Brothers and Sisters.
In this chart, 5 planets are in the first third of their signs, 2 planets are in the second third of their signs, and 3 planets are in the last third of their signs. This indicates a heavy emphasis on the actional-material levels of life, a slightly diminished emphasis on the social/emotional levels, with a “normal” emphasis on the individual, mental, and spiritual levels.
Why Are Full Moons So Important?
At a Full Moon, that which has opened since the previous New Moon surfaces in a public form, and heads toward the culmination and fruition symbolized by the second half of any cycle. First half, birth into form and field. Second half, culmination and completion of the purpose of that cycle.
That’s why it’s important to regard the New and Full Moon charts as “God’s Footprints in Time,” since one follows the other in an unending sequence of births of newer and newer seeds. The New Moons show us the seeds that will flourish under the reflected light of the Full Moon.
Full Moons heighten feelings, due to the opposition of the Moon and the Sun. We’re now in a period of many months of no transit to transit oppositions other than those made by the Moon, until the next run begins when Mars opposes Pluto in June 2021. That means the evolutionary “Tension of Opposites” in this Lunation involves 8-12 Aquarius and Leo, which gives us a narrow focused field of awareness involving Moon, Sun, and Jupiter as they are the planets in exact opposition. (To some extent Saturn extends the field of awareness from 4-7 Aquarius.)
Dispositors - What's the Backdrop to the Energies?
The Sun is in Aquarius, making Saturn in Aquarius its worldly ruler and Uranus in Taurus its spiritual ruler. The Moon in Leo has as its worldly ruler the Sun, and is its own spiritual ruler. That makes Saturn and the Sun the “powers behind the scenes” in this Lunation.
This Eclipse returns us to only 2 “final dispositors” ruling all the other planets. The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Uranus, and Pluto are all ruled by Saturn in Aquarius; Neptune, as usual, is a “standalone” planet, ruling itself. That means the rulerships are dominated by Saturn this month. A final dispositor is a planet in one of its “home signs,” or the signs it rules.
By looking at how “chains of dispositors,” “final dispositors,” and “mutual reception” are in play between the planets, we get a clear picture of the backdrop for how each planet operates. You can find out more about dispositors in general, chains of dispositors, and mutual reception by going to Astrology Class – What Is A Dispositor and What Is Mutual Reception Between Two Planets?
The Sabian Symbols for the Full Moon
This Full Moon falls at 10 Aquarius and 10 Leo. It is said that the first third (decan) of any sign deals with the actional, material, and physical levels of life, and as the Lunation is in the first decan of those signs, invokes a sub-influence of Aquarius and Leo.
Since the Moon always focuses the light of the Sun in specific forms, the degree symbols for both are important. The Sun degree is the illumination or enlightenment of the Lunation, whereas the Moon shows us the potential forms that enlightenment will take. Though I’ve given you a sense of what this is about up to now, here’s where we go into detail.
The Solar degree symbol for the 10th degree of Aquarius is "A Popularity which proves ephemeral.” In the Astrology of Personality, where Rudhyar uses the original Dr. Jones' class notes on the symbols, Rudhyar states this degree is one of “ability to rise above vicissitudes of passing fortune,” “faithfulness to self,” “dependence upon native endowment,” and “projection.”
In his Astrological Mandala, we are told that this degree is one of “the need to deal with human beings as persons rather than as screen upon which one projects one’s dream and ideal.” He goes on to state this degree contrasts the ideal and the reality, the person and the archetype they seem to represent. He states “the star’s popularity fades away, the person remains.”
He continues that this symbol is about “person versus archetype. This can mean a critical need to self-evaluation.” He offers that this is in the Span of Defensiveness, and is the culminating degree on the emotional-cultural level of the Scene of Contribution in the Act of Capitalization.
Dr. Marc Jones says this symbol is one of “the eternal challenge which comes to an individual at every point of climax in (their) experience, and of the swing of the pendulum between an endorsement and a repudiation of (our) efforts by (our) social group.” He offers that we must “accept the applause as encouragement in (our) self-strengthening” even as we search for “continued sustainment from (our) own ability of being.”
He continues that “a courageous self-confidence and an unflagging faith are worthy of recognition, but only in their moment of significance.” He offers us the keyword APPROBATION, and says when this degree is working positively, it’s one of “a gift for bringing the issues of life to a dramatic consummation at a time of crisis.”
So the Light of the next two weeks involves seeing how we’ve risen or are rising above life’s “vicissitudes” while reverting to our “native endowment.” We will see the light of understanding, and perhaps opportunity, by understanding what we’ve projected or are projecting on to our world, as well as those we’ve accepted from our world, and in some cases, step back from them, if only temporarily.
The next two weeks bring Light and power at a “climax in experience” where we can become stronger while searching for “sustainment of our ability of being.” Have self-confidence based in what you’ve left behind, or are leaving behind, and the new things which are more “popular” to you and others than what was in fashion even 6 months ago.
Of some note is that Mars went stationary retrograde at 10 Aquarius in late June 2018, and Mercury made a Superior Conjunction on that same degree in late January 2019. That means in mid-2018 we began to adjust our “attack on the problems of life” by redirecting what and why we liked, as well as pulling back from roles people put on us, or we put on ourselves. Then with the “fusion of Life and Mind” in January 2019 we were able to see the Light of why we had to do the adjustments of 2018. As the Sun conjuncts Jupiter on this degree right now, it shows a year of openings, truths, and higher awareness related to past, present, and future.
The Lunar degree symbol for the 10th degree of Leo is “Early morning dew.” According to Rudhyar’s notes from the Marc Jones class, this degree is one of “freshness of spontaneous response to life and emotions,” and “uplifting lightness in experience; or else superficial glamor.”
In The Astrological Mandala, he says this degree is “the exalted feeling that rises within the soul of the individual who has successfully passed through the long night which has tested his strength and his faith.” He offers that “the cold air of night” precipitates “the moisture of our deepest feelings” on our consciousness, where we may be “blessed with the light of significance by the rising sun of the new day. Even tears can be transformed into jewels in the light of victory over night and sorrow.”
He goes on to state that this is the “culmination of the process which began on a note of social and cultural crisis,” and that any reformer has to meet many emotional problems” as they do their work. He says “Creation means transformation,” in the sense that any creator is inspired to transform their creation “open to the spirit that ‘makes everything new.’ He finishes with “The building of a new society, and of one’s renewed personality as well, is just as much a process of artistic creation as the making of a delicate glass vase or a symphony,” and gives us the keyword “Transfiguration.” It is said to fall in the Span of Assurance, and is the culminating degree of the social-cultural level in the Scene of Combustion in the Act of Stabilization.
Dr. Jones, creator of the Sabian Symbols, states this degree is about “the eternal refreshment which comes to the individual with every recurrent cycle of (our) experience, and of nature’s continual endorsement of (our) aims or benediction of (our) efforts.” He continues “There are unexpected resources which (we) can find at hand when life otherwise may seem to have defeated (us), and these are often revealed despite (our) lack of expectation.”
He reminds us that “we reap real fruit as we develop a genuine alertness to the unexpected and deny all personal limitation.” He offers us the keyword REJUVENATION, and states that when operating in a positive manner, this degree is “a special talent for finding the better in every situation where a worse may threaten disaster.”
From these symbols it seems the next two weeks we’ll see the Light of accepting recognition from others while finding a deeper sustainment from our own “stability of being.” This can be expressed through a “fresh spontaneity” and “lightness of Being.” The Sun is the Light of being faithful to ourselves while depending on our “native endowment,” and the Moon allows us to reap rewards through unexpected sources, finding rejuvenation by repudiating all needless limitation.
TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption
I’ve included this section for many years to keep you all aware of the workings of Divine Mother on our Earth in this Age in Transition. Rather than simply reprint it each month, I created this material as a separate article unto itself a while back which I’ll be updating very soon. If you want to know more about the vast spiritual field coaxing us toward a great redemption of the promise of Life itself, please take a new look at TransPluto, Divine Mother, and the Tests of Human Redemption We have now entered a long period of getting over our prejudices and preconceptions, and approaching others from an angle of “the fellowship of humanity.”
*********
At the last World Teacher Full Moon of Sun in Gemini and Moon in Sagittarius I gave you a universal prayer/meditation offered to us by the Tibetan Master D.K. in April 1945 at the end of the war. Tens of millions around the world do this prayer every Full Moon, tuning into the Whole which we ALL are together. I said it every day for many years, and still say it every Full Moon. (It was a real trip to see eyes suddenly open and/or lightbulbs go on over people’s heads when I did it countless times riding the NYC subways when I lived there in the early 80s!)
In 1976 I changed a few words to make it more universal. For your consideration,
The Great Invocation
From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let Light stream forth into the minds of All,
Let Light descend on EarthFrom the point of Love within the heart of God
Let Love stream forth into the hearts of All
May Christ return to EarthFrom the center where the Will of God is known
Let Purpose guide the little Wills of All
The Purpose which the Masters know and serveFrom the center which we call the Human Race
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.
Again, as I’ve offered you many times before, when you see the title "The Christ" if you are so inclined please substitute "World Teacher," "Bodhisattva," "Imam Madhi," "Krishna," “Kristos,” "Avalokiteshvara," "Maitreya," "Messiah," or any other term used to describe this Great Being. And if you substitute “Enlightened Ones” or “Wise Ones” for “Masters” I doubt it would offend anyone.
See you soon with part 3 covering aspects, planetary sequencing, and other important factors in this Full Moon.
