Skills For Listening Deeply To Others

Hello friends,

Today I'd like to discuss the importance of listening deeply to understand others. This skill is often undervalued or misunderstood. Whether it's for personal relationships or in business, this skill is essential for creating and sustaining good connections.

Background

Understanding others is not merely a pathway to personal success; it is a transformative journey that nurtures both our individual spirit and our collective community. By cultivating deep listening skills, we open ourselves to authentic connections that foster trust and empathy.

This process encourages us to reflect on our own listening habits—are we truly present when others share their thoughts and feelings?

Let's also consider whether we create an environment that allows others (friends, family, colleagues, employees) to feel safe communicating their needs and asking for help when needed. Example: when employees stay silent during a business meeting - how can we break the ice on the silence in a non-threatening, non-punitive way?

Tools For Opening Up

Breaking the silence in conversations requires a new set of skills I'll outline below.

FIRST, I suggest purposefully connecting with our intuition and sense of knowing. If an employee stays silent in a meeting or doesn't return calls, we can take a moment and tune into our intuitive guidance and ask for a deeper meaning. Examples: the employee may be in fear or ashamed that they don't know something; or the employee may have such low self esteem that he or she can't admit how hard it would be to take on a task or role.

SECOND, I suggest that we put ourselves in the shoes of the employee - imagining how we would feel in his or her situation. The empathy and compassion we create from this could help change the situation. How? When we have raised our frequency and changed how we see things, we may see solutions previously out of our awareness.

THIRD, let's take a moment and invite a knowing of why a particular person has come into our life. After all, there are no random situations - everything is for our learning and spiritual growth. This applies in both our personal lives and in business.

Enhancing our ability to listen deeply not only enriches our relationships but also aligns with my mission of empowering Divine Changemakers who strive for a more compassionate world.

On any given day - when perhaps we wonder why our souls chose to be here now - let's remind ourselves of the opportunities we have to create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive.
