The Council: Pets - Some Final Thoughts - Part 3

The Council: Pets - Some Final Thoughts - Part 3

Here William LePar’s spiritual source, The Council give us some of their thoughts on the proper care of animals.

The Council:  The thing with animals regardless of what kind of animal, each has its proper living condition under man and each has its proper living condition according to nature.  As long as man is willing to fulfill those conditions when the animal is living under his care, as long as man is willing to fulfill those conditions to the best of his ability, that is all that is required.  The, shall we say, doing away with an animal should not be looked upon as a major    decision in your life.  We would ask that you not take the death of an animal upon yourself unduly or that you do not take the life of an animal too flippantly or too lightly.  It is best not to become involved with animals if you are not willing to assume responsibility for those animals.  Naturally, if you were to have, shall we say, an animal that is commonly used for food production you would not treat it as you would an animal that is commonly used for a house pet, but you should provide a living condition for those animals that they have either grown accustomed to or are naturally accustomed to.  Very well.

Questioner:  What if your pet is sick and say he's old and sick and you see him suffering.  Is it wrong to put him to sleep at that time? If your physician says there is nothing else he can do?

The Council:  If it is to prevent the animal from suffering, additional suffering, there is no harm in having the animal put away.

Questioner:  Thank you.

The Council:  It would be more cruel to allow the animal to exist.
