On a radiant spring morning, nature spirits whispered secrets of effortless creation ~Crystal Wind

On this lovely spring morning, the sun was shining through the trees creating dabbled patterns of nature’s artwork. Birdsong filled the air. The potency of earth smelled fresh with rebirth. I walked out into the garden with my basket of tools ready to dive in.

Ambling through the paths I took notice of what was asking for my attention. There was a lot of winter debris throughout the forest that needed clearing. So I filled the wheelbarrow several times transporting it to the brush pile. Then my eye was drawn to one of the beds under the camilla tree. This area has always been my sanctuary with a dining table sheltered from falling foliage under a huge umbrella.

I tuned into the nature spirits and asked for advice. One whisper at a time I was guided through the process of creating a new garden sanctuary.

This bed was originally covered in sweet woodruff which has a tendency to sprawl uncontrollably beyond its intended boarders. Without realizing what I was doing until I was on my knees covered in mud, I had removed a large portion of the ground cover. There was a lovely lone hydrangea asking for company. I could hear several heliotrope plants calling from the edge of the forest. Ah, what great companions they would make for my hydrangea. So they were swiftly transplanted. My potted rose bush was moved into an open spot at the pathway entrance. Two large rocks were strategically placed with sprigs of vinca found in the forest.

Voila! Within a few hours, a new sanctuary garden had been created with such ease I was amazed at how effortlessly it had been done. Nothing I had envisioned in advance, nor could have planned more perfectly. All created in the moment via the whispers of the nature spirits. I went inside, made myself a cup of herbal tea, and returned to sit at my outdoor table to enjoy my handiwork.

Honoring the Body’s Gentle Signals

With the barebones in place the rest of the ground cover needed to be removed, but I could feel my body communicating that we had done enough for one day. Normally, I would have listened. But rain was approaching and the gardeners were scheduled to remove the brush and debris the following day. So, I decided to push through to finish the task that could have waited for another day.

A few hours later, I was back inside nursing a sore back. Yuck!! Lesson learned!

Do NOT ignore Nature’s whispers or the messages of the body.

The Sacred Shift from Flow to Effort

In retrospect, I knew the moment my back muscles had kicked in. . . . I had gone from Flow to Efforting. My very first steps into the garden were in flow, with nature, with my body. I did not have a plan. I did not have a “to-do” list. I was fully Present, flowing in the moment. Everything I did up until choosing to push through to complete the project was in effortless flow with energy in service to me. But once I decided to take control with an agenda, I was no longer flowing with ease. The muscles in my body were pushing with effort, contracting with an agenda within time restrictions, resulting in pain. Mercifully, the body knows how to recover and I was back to feeling chipper a few days later.

Living in Natural Harmony with Life

What a beautiful awareness I experienced that can be applied to all of life!

When we are fully Present, we are one with the innate flow of life. Energy flows freely, effortlessly, painlessly. But as soon as we engage with agendas or attempt to control life, energy contracts into those constraints. It is no longer free to flow with ease and grace, open to infinite new potentials.

Once seen, I can not unsee. Not only am I more Present now, but I can immediately tell if I have stepped out of the natural flow of life. Sometimes it feels like Magic. Then I remind myself. . . . THIS is how we’ve always been meant to live.

When we are fully Present, we are one with the innate flow of life. Energy flows freely, effortlessly, painlessly.
