Mayday: May Day

She heeds our calls
even as our bones brace
for an impact as yet
unforeseeable—

the feathered, finned
sense its perfume, its song,
its wonder

as our
essence
attunes
harmonics
just beyond
range.

She finds us
better than we find
ourselves, so used to
small, curbed, less
than sight.

She heeds the bloom
in slow-slow motions, 
beholding violets,
trillium, stirring
highlands, woodlands,
bogs lifting lullabies
to the stars
by night.

She
reveals
profusion
birthed in
hibernation,
of the womb
held in
darkest
days,

showers
abundance
so we may
recognize,
reclaim,
reappear
its plenty
in and of
ourselves

as able as she
to hold, make
untold
love
life
real.

She has all the time
the worlds cannot tell,
no matter the weather
of mountain,
moon,
man.

Minding
this struggle to
free our forming
from too-long a
languishment
in chrysalis,
so interminable
we've grown lost
to the creatures
we might be,
our orientation
spun faster than
her circadian
thousand
miles
per
hour.

Amidst,
she keeps
watch, holds
sway, makes
magic before
our very
eyes.

And
on her cue,
may day blaze
its orb so deep
into our crust
we've only to
grasp that
which is
opening
before
us:

petals,
pistils,
pollen,

everything
we can't yet
imagine
in the
roused
buds
of our
dreams.
