The Union of Solstice

Writ large—

orbit of our sacred star

large.

Where polarity can be seen in

its hemispheric longest day, shortest night

and vice versa, what is equally striking

is the range of expression our

living earth makes

manifest

on whole.

In a single moment, we in the north

bloom summer

we fall

into the baring

of winter.

Balance

impossible without

counterbalance,

all things

considered.

It is the yin that now calls us

to immerse the garden

within, even as yang

shimmers in the

blazing sun.

At once brimming

with warmth, fecundity,

life begins to

withdraw

into repose,

replenishment

ever so gradually.

Until, suddenly, it is

quite plain.

How very much we get to

encounter as living beings

among so much life

being alive.

Even when it sleeps.

A profundity the flowers

express as their petals

open their hearts

to the sun, close

their eyes at night,

and fall to the

earth when

when it's

time

to let

go.

Becoming

fodder for so much

new life to

unfold

in its time.

How very

beautiful

it all

is.
