LIGHT-FILLED SKIES: Incredibly vibrant auroras danced across Earth's skies late last week, courtesy of a severe (G4) geomagnetic storm that occurred on March 23 and 24. Since the storm had not been forecast by the heliophysicists (space weather scientists) and it was the strongest geostorm in almost six years, the event definitely got our attention!

There have been many scientific studies of the impact of geomagnetic storms on our physical, mental, and emotional states. Research shows that the stress of high-level geomagnetic activity affects the human heart, blood pressure, melatonin levels, the nervous system, behaviors, mental state, and more. 

Geomagnetic activity also affects us on metaphysical levels. While physical science shows that geostorms affect the pineal gland, and thus melatonin levels and the sleep cycle, spiritual science takes it a step further. The pineal gland is the seat of the sixth chakra, the Third Eye. For the mystic, this energy center is the gateway to the inner realms and higher consciousness.

Therefore, when there is heightened geomagnetic activity, we can have an expanded experience of our own spiritual connection. Meditations may be enhanced, and visions or images may come forward that have deep spiritual or personal impact. In many respects, we can consider geomagnetic storms to be one of the many "tools of the Cosmos," assisting us on our journey of enlightenment. 

It is also important to note that when we receive downloads of energy and information through events such as geomagnetic storms, it can take at least three days for our bodies and psyches to process what we have received. So please be gentle with yourself and be especially kind to others as we all work with this increased energy.

PLUTO IN AQUARIUS: Perhaps there was no link between last week's geomagnetic storm and Pluto's ingress into Aquarius, but since both occurred on the same day, it certainly increased our awareness of the major energy shift that is underway. 

DAILY ASPECTS: Here are this week's most important planetary aspects, with my brief interpretations of each. 

Monday

Mercury semisquare Saturn, Mercury conjunct Jupiter: While we may be aware of pessimistic thinking or a light depression early on Monday, the mood lightens as we move into the evening hours. We can also be more impulsive in speech late in the day, and it may be hard to settle down the mind and sleep tonight.

Tuesday

Mars semisquare Uranus: There is a great deal of nervous energy to deal with today. People may be more irritable than usual, or become angry at the drop of a hat. The need to rebel against limitations or restrictions is strong.

Wednesday

No major aspects are exact today.

Thursday:

Mars trine Saturn: This aspect helps us stay in balance and make slow but steady progress. We know when to step on the gas pedal and when to apply the brake and are able to harness emotional energy and apply it to long-term goals.

Venus conjunct Uranus: This alignment between the goddess of Love and Beauty and the god of Liberation occurs once a year, offering a reset in relationship and financial matters. Choices in these areas are now based on a clearer knowing of what we truly value and what will enable us to live more authentically.

Friday

Mercury conjunct Eris: This alignment strengthens the courage of our convictions. It increases a determination to be true to our own independent opinions and perspectives. This may result in a stronger resistance to ideas or plans promoted by others.

Venus semisquare Mars: Irritations and quarrels are possible. People can react more defensively than usual, especially if they feel compelled to explain or justify their actions.

Saturday

No major aspects are exact today.

Sunday

Mars sextile North Node: This energizing aspect helps us stand strong for higher spiritual values. It also empowers us to let go of old behavior patterns and resentments that may have interfered with our progress.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: Self-care and personal healing are important themes for you this year. If anger and an inability to sit still have been masking an underlying feeling of vulnerability, this is a good time to learn to be more open with yourself and to accept aspects of your being that you may have judged as being "weak." If you have been hiding insecurity and old wounds with a veneer of confidence and excessive activity, you are now able to heal on deep levels. In essence, you are learning to apply the courage that enables you to stride forward bravely in the outer world to the inner journey of emotional healing. (Solar Return Sun conjunct Chiron)
