Affecting February, March, April and May 2022 – A Third Look at Emerging Capricorn and Aquarius Cycles

Mercury is now going direct and will be in its shadow zone through February 24, after which it enters its next phase of moving through "unknown zones" where the themes of this retrograde will be played out in forward motion. So for the next 2 weeks expect some very productive intersections of past and future, giving us a chance to show how willing we are to update our perceptual files, moving from Capricorn “seed ideas” into Aquarian actions.

Themes related to the span between 25 Capricorn and 11 Aquarius will continue to be prominent until Mercury enters its next shadow zone on April 26. The recent retrograde span has given us a look back at structural Capricorn cycles set into motion in 2020 as well as the emergent Aquarius cycles set into motion by the Mars/Saturn and Jupiter/Saturn cycles also put into play that year. As noted in part 1, this year all Mercury retrograde spans start in early Air signs and retrograde back into late Earth signs, helping us start with ideas and finish with practical grounded insights.

This Mercury direct station falls at 25 Capricorn. It is said that the third third (decan) of any sign deals with the individual, mental, and spiritual levels of life, and as this falls in the third decan of Capricorn, it has a sub-influence of Virgo with an added dose of the Sun. Because Mercury in both Aquarius and Capricorn is ruled by Saturn in its home sign of Aquarius, this past Mercury RX had a dual sign background with a unified Aquarian dispositor.

We got a look back at all things Capricorn and Aquarius, with a special focus on the Jupiter/Pluto cycles set into motion related to 25 Capricorn. We can now move forward using those in-depth insights to move forward into action now that Venus is direct and close to Mars in Capricorn and Aquarius these next few weeks.

Aspects in the Shadow Zone

Mercury will transit its “shadow” span of 25 Capricorn-11 Aquarius through late February, with residual echoes for the next 13 weeks as well. Mercury going direct will re-activate many of the aspects it's made over the past few weeks, which were relatively few given how close all the other planets are at this time of year.

As Mercury moves forward from its station, it makes a conjunction with Pluto through mid-February, keeping a laser focus on cultivating knowledge of the core of things. It also keeps the Grand Irrationality in play through its biseptile to Uranus and septile to Neptune through the second week of February, with the third week of the month showing Mercury making a novile to Jupiter.

Because of so many planets clustered in such a small area, these are all the aspects Mercury makes in its shadow zone. Of course, there are other aspects which dominate the landscape at this direct station, including Sun exactly conjunct Saturn setting a new year cycle into motion, and Mars is exactly sextile Jupiter and Venus is still in close trine to Uranus. Add Venus and Mars both quintile Neptune, and you can see there’s plenty going on. Things are very much concentrated wherever we have late Capricorn through mid-Taurus, and since it’s not going to change any time soon, get used to a very crowded house in that sector of your chart!

The Moon and Sun at this Station

The Moon at the station is a New Moon, indicating a lot of instinctive growth which is highly subjective and self-directed. As the Moon is on the degree where Neptune went SRX in 2021, no doubt the coming weeks will be a bit dreamy with a close connection to collective consciousness. In this chart, the Light of the Sun in Aquarius must be expressed in Piscean forms.

Because the Moon is at 24 Pisces exactly sextile Mercury and Pluto and exactly quintile Venus, I’m sure the “organized flow” will proceed in a structured way in coming weeks. Very favorable Lunar aspects makes for a pleasing package, even if it will seem weird due to the strong Pisces factor. As Jupiter rules the Moon, we’ll be summoned to forms of rebirth as we behold “the end of the end” of some things as we stand “before the beginning.”

At this station, the Sun is 16 Aquarius exactly conjunct Saturn, showing it to be a time of “active management of energy.” See what you have at your disposal and apply it to the larger vision unfolding in your life. In some ways, the coming weeks will set the stage for the entire Sun/Saturn year beginning at this time.

Looking Back, Looking Ahead

So from here Mercury moves forward! We can now take what we reviewed, got a new understanding of, or found new information about that helped us remember and/or reevaluate some things and move forward with a larger view and contemplation of what has been and what will be, especially in the houses where we have Gemini and Virgo, since Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo.

As it was retrograde between 11 Aquarius and 25 Capricorn, those house(s) in our charts have been the areas where our review, reflections, returns, reconsiderations, and/or rehearsals have taken place. Since it is now direct, if there have been misunderstandings or delays these past 3 weeks, it's all moving forward from here! We can begin to get a lot more accomplished, after a period of slow downs, turnarounds, review, reflection, reworking, undoing, and re-planning. We’ve been offered a chance to rethink many things, and experienced new ways of seeing how to find new inspiration which will help us cultivate our “x-ray vision” to organize or reorganize whatever our spiritual work requires. Now we move forward into a new life knowing we’re traversing familiar ground before we leap into the future in late February.

So things should start moving forward anew fairly quickly. Right now, it’s a good time to use the different information, views, and approaches we’ve been examining through the retrograde lens these past several weeks to find a new understanding of the larger global process of purification, elimination, and transformation. We now have both a broader view and a more organized way of dealing with things, and having been on a trip through the past, can move forward into a time of dynamic ideas and powerful inspired expression.

Now that we've done our rehearsals, reviews, revisions, and/or research on those inner and outer experiences showing us how to get out of our own way and allow Spirit to work through us, we can weave all we know into a different way to coordinate part of our life. Here we again face the future, knowing a different sense of Being and a new vision of a past that is no more. Though there may be a sense of not entirely knowing what direction you’re going, since we’re now free to fly in any direction we choose, remember the immortal words of George Harrison, “if you don’t know where you’re going, any road will get you there.”

From Here We Speed Up!

Things related to Mercury will speed up considerably for the next three months, so flow with the new YOU you’re experiencing! Meditate on the symbol “An oriental rug dealer” I gave you in part 1 since that’s the foundation for Mercury to move forward. This is about us attaining “transcendent security” in somewhat comfortable circumstances and effectively employing “the facilities and goods of a modern society” in a spiritual service. This promises us a new transfiguration of our view of things wherever we have 25 Capricorn.

When you get a sense of things or a hunch, follow the feeling to a new understanding, or new information about what’s going on. Then after you’ve deliberated, see what decisions and actions which must be made to move the idea into a secure form. One you’ve done what you have to do, then take time to experience what you’ve just done rather than stay lost in the infinite playing fields of the lower mind. If you are unclear, use your feelings to guide you to a new vision or information. Once the new understanding opens, you’ll know what to do. So be thoughtful, open to communications, and follow it with your “innocent instinct” to get a broadened perspective.
