April 20th: Jupiter and Uranus Conjunction - A Mind-Blowing Alignment!

April 20th: Jupiter and Uranus Conjunction - A Mind-Blowing Alignment!

April 19th ~ 26th

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. ~ Albert Einstein

Jupiter has the capacity to exaggerate and expand the qualities of whatever planet it touches, while Uranus wants us to be freed up in order to grow beyond our previous expectations. Combining the qualities of Jupiter and Uranus can include things like:

  • sudden and enlightening realizations

  • grand new innovations that free up our lives

  • seeing alternatives where previously we didn’t

  • being suddenly freed up for a grand new adventure

  • releasing our inhibitions, fears and doubts

  • the willingness to get off our chair, take some risks and go in a new direction

  • gaining benefit from looking at things in a different way or from a different point of view

  • and the freedom to change your mind

The Jupiter/Uranus conjunction at 21º Taurus 50’ just exudes freedom, even to the point of wreaking shock and awe in our everyday lives. Jupiter can also exaggerate those qualities. But there is also something magical and wonderful about the cw potential of Uranus being unleashed in this way. Yes, Uranus can wreak havoc and mayhem in our lives. But it can also break down self-limiting inhibitions, and free us up for ever better things that we might not have even thought possible! Why keep doing things the same way over and over, just because that’s the way it’s always been done? Why keep believing things to be a certain way because that is what everyone else believes. Jupiter/Uranus shows us that there might be alternatives. And not only are there alternatives, but they might be even better.

Jupiter/Uranus have been trying to tune us in to our potential, by showing us things from another perspective, by showing us that there are alternatives, or could be, if we dared to unleash the shackles of our lives. And so we are also being asked to be flexible and open to what is being brought into our lives at this time. For the aim of Jupiter/Uranus is to be inspired to evolve and grow in ways that we might not have even imagined was possible.

Jupiter/Uranus can change our minds, and open us up to new alternatives. But you still might want to wait until Mercury is out of its retrograde phase before making major decisions or commitments, if it can be helped. Mercury stations to end its retrograde phase on April 25th while conjunct the North Node of the Moon, but will take some time to pick up speed again. Interestingly, the New Moon on May 7th, a time of new beginnings and conjunct Uranus, will be quite close to the degree of the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction of April 20th. Mercury will be picking up speed by then, and will be far enough from the Sun to give us greater clarity and objectivity.

This does not diminish the significance of Mercury making its station at 16º of Aries while conjunct the North Node. For the 3 weeks that Mercury has been in its retrograde phase we have been reflecting, reviewing and trying to make sense of ourselves and our lives. And it might even seem between the cw Solar Eclipse on April 8th, Pluto recently entering Aquarius, the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction on April 20th, and now the station of Mercury that we are all being led back on to the path we were meant to be on all along. And that begins by putting the focus on yourself, knowing who you are, what you are needing, what is right for you, what is unique about you, without being too overly concerned about what the world/society/others make of that. This is about you being you.

But do also pay attention to the Full Moon on Tuesday, April 23rd at 4º Scorpio 18’, for even in the midst of change, even as we become aware of our potential, even as we are being urged to to think in terms of possibility, the Full Moon is showing us the possible ramifications of doing so. What will too much freedom and license mean? What are we in danger of losing, if things change too quickly? What sacrifices are we being asked to make, all for the sake of progress?

With the Full Moon square Pluto (and now slowing for its retrograde station on May 2nd) and a sesquiquadrate to Saturn, there may be parts of us both excited for the possibilities of the future, while also feeling cautiously reticent. This is a theme that we will be speaking to throughout the year. And this Full Moon will be bringing this all to light. For even as Jupiter/Uranus is trying to remind us of who we are, and what we are capable of becoming, change can be hard. And for some, it can be harder. Depending on what those changes are. But perhaps the most important takeaway from the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction is to be the change that you would want to see in the world.

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind.  To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse.  To the hopeful it is encouraging because things may get better.  To the confident it is inspiring because the challenge exists to make things better. ~ King Whitney Jr.
