Mercury and Mars, fierce in the sign of Scorpio, are the spark reigniting the Saturn/Uranus square. This is also just as we are gearing up for the next set of eclipses. Where Saturn holds firm and tries to maintain the status quo, Uranus explodes and wants to rebel against anything that tries to limit it. For those identifying with the Saturn energy, there is a strong urge to defend and preserve against radical forces that threaten to destabilize all that they had worked so hard to build up. For those identifying with the Uranian energy, anyone or anything that tries to limit their freedom, or force them to conform will be resisted. 

Mercury and Mars negotiating this haphazard and choppy weather, are moving out from under the pressure of the Saturn squares and out into the unpredictable and volatile arena of Uranus this week. Both Mercury and Mars were square Saturn on the 10th of November. Mercury will now oppose Uranus on Saturday the 13th, followed by Mars opposing Uranus on the 17th. The more repressed, oppressed, controlled or stuck we are feeling, the more likely we are going to want to be free. Whatever pressures or limitations you’ve been putting up with, will only feel that much more intolerable when Mercury and Mars oppose Uranus. 

Uranus can strike as if from out of the blue. Like a bolt of lightning it can change the landscape or shock the bejeezus out of us. Shock can cause us to freeze up with fear, but it can also allow us to wake up and see things in a whole new way. And just like the suddenness of a bolt of lightning, Uranus can illuminate a whole new, and perhaps alternative path, or see things in a brand new way that we had not been able to before. 

Use the Saturn squares for ballast, while also remaining flexible for whatever changes may come. In this weather plans can change, adjustments are being made, and sudden events can occur that can change the picture. As we approach the Lunar Eclipse on November 19th, we are dancing on the brink of volatility and change. All the more so with these planets, because when Mars opposes Uranus, sparks fly, and explosions are known to occur. Therefore dance lightly around this one. Mars/Uranus can bring us the courage to create the changes we wish to see, but it is also impulsive and erratic. And with Mars in Scorpio, it can feel like a volcano ready to spew. Use the excitability to be motivated, to get yourself out of any ruts, and to create positive changes in your life. But do so cautiously, and make sure it’s safe before you go diving in. 

What this week could be good for:

• If you have come up against a dead end, this is when you might consider going in another direction or trying something new.

• By being willing to look at a problem from another perspective you just might find the solution you are seeking.

• Before assuming that everyone else is wrong, keep an open mind and try looking at things from their point of view.

• Having the courage to go in a new direction, meet new people, or try something different. Just do so with wisdom and forbearance.
