Creating Your Year: Trust, Prayer, and Divine Alignment

At a holiday party, someone asked me, “Which New Year’s predictions do you believe will come true?” I told her, “I don’t pay much attention to other people’s predictions. My year will be the result of the thoughts I think. We will all step into the year we believe in.” I love management consultant Peter Drucker’s advice: “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

Overcoming Fear

Years ago, a psychic I respect predicted that a terrible disaster was going to happen in an area where I was scheduled to do a series of programs. I became so frightened that I cancelled the programs. As the scheduled time approached, I decided that I could not allow fear or someone else’s idea of the future to rule my life. I reinstated the programs, which turned out to be especially successful because I was teaching with the authority of trust. The disaster never happened, but the experience ultimately empowered me.

The Power of Prayer

If you would like to set the best possible year in motion, mobilize prayer. The purpose of prayer is not to change God’s mind, but to change our mind. God is already established in absolute well-being, and knows nothing of human limitations. True prayer aligns our mind with the all-benevolent mind of God. I pray to remember my original innocence, and everyone’s. When we understand that we are eternally loved, we rise above dark expectations and live under grace.

A healed mind attracts healed results. My friends Tom and Suzie had a daughter, Corey, born with a club foot. One foot was turned at a 90-degree angle toward the other. After numerous tests and x-rays, doctors told Corey’s parents that the condition could be corrected, but it would require five or six years of surgeries and braces. While Tom and Suzie were not eager for their daughter to go through that process, they figured they had no other choice and agreed.

Around that time, Suzie’s sister sat on an airplane next to a Guatemalan man who said he was a healer. The sister invited him to a party at Suzie’s house, in hopes he could help the child. He attended and prayed briefly over the child’s foot.

When the parents took the little girl for her first surgery, doctors took some more x-rays. After a 45-minute consultation, they came to the parents, befuddled. “There is nothing at all wrong with the child’s foot,” they reported. “There must have been a misdiagnosis.”

Yet everyone had seen the obvious original condition of the foot. There was no misdiagnosis. There was prayer. Corey went on to enjoy a perfectly healthy foot and life.

Your Role as a Lightworker in 2026

It’s important for each of us to remember our crucial role as lightworkers in 2026. It can be tempting to be swayed by people immersed in fear and separateness. When you remain at peace while others have lost theirs, your healing influence is paramount. Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” If you are reading this, you are a part of that group. We change the world by first changing our mind. Then the hand of Higher Power joins ours, and we become a force for healing in our own life and the lives of everyone we touch.

Predictions and Consciousness

All predictions are like x-rays that reflect a particular condition at one moment in time. Often they represent the consciousness of the person making the prediction, more than actual events. X-rays can change with our state of mind. The year 2026 is no exception to the universal laws that govern all of life all the time: We are all divine beings who deserve only the richest blessings because we are created in God’s image and likeness. If we all believe that prediction for the coming year, and every year, we will step into a very bright year indeed.
