As I told you last week, we’re now in the thick of two powerful oppositions from Mercury and Venus to Mars, with Saturn providing relief to all three of them! This heralds what we’ll go through next week when the Sun opposes Mars, marking the mid-point of the Mars retrograde period.
These two oppositions will be exact on November 29/30 and December 1. This provides tremendous agitation, but also power to cut through any ambivalence and cut to the chase! An opposition can provide great awareness if we can see “the whole picture.”
As I told you last week, oppositions create awareness through understanding two sides of the same polarity, in this case Sagittarius to Gemini. The Mercury opposition is exact on the 29th at 20 Sag/Gemini, and the Venus opposition is exact on the 30th at 19 Sag/Gemini. If you have a planet anywhere between 17-22 Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, or Pisces expect some disruptions which require precise, careful, and correct actions, whether braking the momentum, turning a corner, or just being aware of forces which oppose us.
These oppositions are resolved by Saturn, which has a trine from Mars and sextiles from the Sag transits. This is a powerful and productive evolutionary configuration favorably affecting all planets and points we have between 18-22 Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, and Aquarius. As I mentioned last week, this configuration generates a very favorable void between 18-22 Leo, giving productive power to that area of our chart.
So Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Saturn are benefiting each other despite the heightened tensions and agitation associated with Mercury opposed Mars. The opposition awareness can be resolved, integrated, and released productively via the Mutable T-square made by Neptune being squared by Mercury, Venus, and Mars. This generates a void in Virgo, so we build in Leo and release in Virgo. Focus on the details, the plan, the priority of moves, and all the other good Virgo skills.
As I mentioned last week, Mercury opposed Mars requires that we find a “good enough” motive for what we’re doing and a profitable direction for our efforts. Decrease restlessness, scattered actions and thoughts, and impulsive conclusions. Because of the Mars retrograde, we may get glimpses into ideas, perceptions, and interactions of the past which we can now see in a different light, or from multiple angles of approach. We should be able to change direction, or reverse direction if required, as long as we wait for the right time to move forward. This opposition favors realistic analyses of situations and the ability to act in ways which fulfill the potential.
Venus opposed Mars tests our ability to coordinate our affairs without getting distracted by passing diversions. Make sure you’re using the right means to achieve your ends, and be alert to situations where you have to neglect one cherished thing to work on something else. Fit things into a long range perspective, and see how to juggle things so you can keep several things going at the same time and not get distracted. This can give insights into past relationships, and why they had to be undone, or go in a different direction, or even internalized tapes in our subconscious mind showing us interpersonal disputes in the past where the other was not honest, had a hidden agenda, or were just being passive aggressive.
Again, this period stresses our need to go slow and be a little more cautious in saying things, or pushing things, or jumping into something, or overreacting to something. There may be glimpses into how ours or another’s subconscious mind played a part in creating a hassle, or blunted our ability to speak directly. This time is excellent for showing heart strength, courage, playfulness, and creativity. Be naturally expressive in forms of service to self, to others, and/or to the world.
There will be cross currents on Tuesday and early Wednesday due to the square of the Lights, but the real tests begin Wednesday night PDT and get intense on Thursday December 1, due to Moon square Mars, Venus, and Mercury while conjuncting Neptune with all of these sandwiched between Venus opposed Mars Wed night and Moon conjunct Jupiter Thursday night. And then come the squares to Neptune. Show good Leo and Virgo skills and you'll do fine.
As Mercury and Venus will be conjunct each other in both Sagittarius and Capricorn for many weeks to come, if you haven’t already, please take a look at Astrology in 2022-2023 - Mercury and Venus Conjunct in Sagittarius, Capricorn, and Leo and Astrology in November - Mercury and Venus Fire Dancing in Sagittarius
