Mercury goes retrograde at 27 Aquarius on January 30. Today we take a look at some primary factors in the coming retrograde.

An Overview of the Retrograde

The coming retrograde will show us a new look at recent signals and information that we sent or received, and we’ll have opportunities to take a new look at ways to be guided to our Soul. This one will give us multiple angles of understanding about how our past created our present, or how our present will create our future.

As with all Mercury retrograde periods, this will give us a new look at recent signals and information that we sent or received, and things from the past will be reviewed, re-examined, reevaluated, or understood differently. We can get a new look at our ideas, ways we’re communicating and understanding what others are communicating to us, and get new insights into all things related to Aquarius energy from now through early late February.

We will all get “one last look back” so we may find a different perspective on recent developments, as well as how we can add to or augment some greater dedication in our lives. This one will help us to a new understanding of the many delicate shades of feeling all there is to feel, with refinement and elegance in the air. As we see our links to our Spiritual group as bridging generations of truth seekers, by the end of the retrograde period we’ll understand where we are on the evolutionary ladder.

The next 3 weeks will give us a new take on emergent developments, and what must be reviewed and released, or researched and rehearsed to prepare us to move forward in late February. Because of the “back to the future” quality of Mercury retrograde, we may also get glimpses of how the last 3 months have given us a new look at how our past has fed our future since learning how to combine soft and hard power to repair something since November.

So we enter a time of review, reflection, rehearsal, and new angles of focus on our personal life and habits, preparing to round out our Aquarius functions in some important ways. Mercury retrograde is great for taking a new look at past actions, feelings, ideas, and people to come to a different perspective about how these impacted our lives since then.

Mercury Retrograde Is In A Consistent Element Emphasis

After a year of shift in Mercury retrograde element patterns, 2021 sees Mercury retrograde only in Air signs, and pretty much trine each other throughout the year! This is a major difference from the past two years.

The March 2019 retrograde began and ended in Water, the July 2019 retrograde began in Fire and ended in Water, and the November one was entirely in Water. The Feb-March 2020 retrograde began in Water and ended in Air, beginning a new transitional pattern. The June-July retrograde was the last one which began in Water and ended in Water, while the October-November retrograde began in Water and ended in Air, ending the transition between elements.

Past as prologue: 2018 was entirely in Fire signs until the last one, which paralleled 2012. As 2019 featured two Water to Water retrogrades, it paralleled 2013. So in 2019 we moved from feeling to feeling in March, from inspiration to feeling in July, and feeling to feeling in Oct-Nov.

In 2020 we moved from Water to Air in the Feb-March retrograde, from Water to Water in June-July, and Water to Air in October-November, paralleling 2014, except then all 3 retrogrades began in Water and went back to Air. This year all three retrogrades begin in the last decan of an Air sign, and retrograde back to the middle decan of that sign. This year parallels 2015, which also had all three Mercury retrograde periods in Air signs, and all trine each other, except they began in the second decan and ended in the first.

A Bit More

In the next 3 weeks, we can see what life has prepared for us since the last Mercury retrograde in October-November 2020. The next 3 weeks are a good time to review recent ways we’ve used power, and get insights about the events requiring us to be more heart power, and others requiring mind power. When did you need to be “yin” and when did you need to be “yang” to achieve your goals, and what has happened which required you to alternate between the two?

This is a look back at prior individual, intellectual, or spiritual “contributions” we were a part of in the past to see how to add to or augment something we’re doing now. This will be a review of our relationships and how they contributed to our spiritual growth. This is a time to be more delicate, more elegant in our interactions, knowing there’s a need to keep things clear and oriented toward the big picture.

This Mercury retrograde will give us a front end look at the span in Aquarius that Jupiter transits between February 4 and April 21. We’ll get the main show from August 21 through December 11 as Jupiter retrogrades through the span and goes direct yet another time over the same span.

Saturn will begin to crystallize 12-14 Aquarius from March 27 to its retrograde station in mid-May, and then travels over that span RX from mid-May through July 21. It will again cross the span beginning December 23, 2021, and move all the way to 26 Aquarius, going RX in June 2022. So the signs and signals we get over the next few weeks will open Jupiterian doors of opportunity and truth this year, which will begin to be brought into preliminary form by Saturn from April through July, and be “made real” by Saturn in 2022.

The Inferior Conjunction happens on February 8 at 21 Aquarius. That “fusion of life and mind” will give us interesting insights into a) how we’re called to develop strength and resilience based in recent developments, and/or b) how we did that in the more distant past so we can help others to find strength and resilience in the present. We’ll all get glimpses of how we’ve “capitalized on misfortune” to find spiritual Truth and gained a form of “supremacy over experience.”

So welcome to many things being reviewed or coming back up from your subconscious mind or your connection to the collective these next three weeks thanks to the retrograde. This one allows us to review and get a new look at how we’re using Aquarius energy in our lives, and review how we’ve moved forward since November. The retrograde is a great time for new insights into how we’ve been guided to our Souls, as prelude to clearer guidance from late February forward.

Summing It Up

For all of us, during the next several weeks open glimpses of future visions which will open many doors of higher understanding as Jupiter traverses this retrograde span. All of us will have a sense of commitment to a greater future and connection with our Spiritual Brothers and Sisters in a greater group vision and/or a greater ideal of how and what to contribute to a greater good by the end of this retrograde. We are again reviewing our past so we may get a new perspective on old interactive dynamics, our need to participate in building activities with our friends, and take a broad view of how we can reach up to a higher level on our “evolutionary ladder.”

In 2020, when the Feb-March retrograde was over, we all stood on the threshold of a metamorphosis while in the heart of the Great Compression. By the time the June-July retrograde was over, we saw we needed to “materialize the spiritual” by letting our past “feed our future.” By the time the October-November retrograde was over, we knew how we had “raised our game” in all our relationships, and began a period of learning to be adept at using different kinds of power in different kinds of situations, introducing the theme for 2021. By the time this one’s over, we’ll know that as things are speeding up and on track, we’ll have to let parts of our past slip down the time stream.

Renewals, returns, reconnections, reunions, and a sense of completion with glimpses of a new life are promised by this retrograde. And of course, more on this Mercury retrograde period will come over the next few days, including Sabian Symbols, Jones Pattern, aspects and more!

Saturn: Spiritual Master, Spiritual Friend

Because Saturn is now in its home signs of Aquarius and Capricorn and will be through 2023, it is the final dispositor of all planets transiting those signs until then. That means it was a major influence in the numerous conjunctions during the Great Compression in January and March 2020, thus affecting us for decades to come, maintaining its years-long power behind events.

Between now and 2023 and beyond, it will continue to play a big part in worldly affairs during this period of the Grand Mutation, ending a 200-year Earth dominated era and ushering in a 200-year Air dominated era in December 2020. It is significant in this retrograde, as it rules Mercury and provides the backdrop for the “exalted experience” of Mercury in Aquarius. As it’s at 6, 7, and 8 Aquarius during the retrograde, there will be tension from increased pressure, with the appearance of “new mutations” emanating from Cosmos, showing us “pre-formed patterns” which will take shape beginning in Autumn 2021.
