In January And February, A Bright Green Comet Will Race Across The Sky

In January and February, a recently found comet will whiz across the sky.

According to NASA, the comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was first observed in March of last year, when it was already inside Jupiter's orbit. Jan. 12 will mark its closest approach to the sun, while Feb. 2 will mark its closest approach to Earth. The comet, which will appear bright green that day, will be around 27 million miles from Earth on that day.

It's not anticipated that this comet will be quite as spectacular as Comet NEOWISE in 2020. However, it's still a fantastic chance to interact personally with an icy guest from the far reaches of the solar system, according to the space agency.

Even while comets are notoriously unpredictable, if this one maintains its present brightness trend, NASA predicts that it will be simple to identify with binoculars and might even become visible to the human eye in a dark sky. Early mornings will be the ideal time to see the comet, while you could also be able to glimpse it between sunset and midnight.

For the optimum viewing opportunity, observers should point their telescopes toward the northern sky below the Big Dipper. For the optimum viewing opportunity, observers should point their telescopes toward the northern sky below the Big Dipper.

The comet, which travelled quickly towards the northwest in January, can be seen in the morning sky by observers in the Northern Hemisphere. In February, the Southern Hemisphere will get the opportunity to view C/2022 E3.
