Hope Sparks as Planets Shift This Week

Change has a considerable psychological impact on the human mind. To the fearful it is threatening because it means that things may get worse. Next Thursday we have the superior conjunction of Mercury and the Sun. There are two conjunctions that occur between the Sun and Mercury in the Mercury cycle. The inferior conjunction, similar to the beginning of its New Moon phase, occurs when Mercury is in its retrograde phase. The superior conjunction, similar to a Full Moon phase of Mercury occurs when Mercury is direct. It is at this conjunction that we are offered an opportunity to look at the circumstances of our live in a more objective way. Stepping back, observing, noting. This superior conjunction sitting between a semi-square to Neptune and a semi-square to Saturn feels like a mild besiegement.

As Pluto stationed for its retrograde last week is was making a square to Mercury, which could have brought an end of day feeling about it. But rather than waiting for the rapture to rescue us from the end all, this is actually a deep awareness that we, as a collective, are in a state of transition. Change can feel scary. But change can also be an opportunity. Without change we would not grow, we could not evolve and make things better.

We are in rare times. All of the major outer planets have recently changed signs. Entering new territory, we suddenly find ourselves trying to get our footing. But by virtue of these outer planets shifting together is that they are doing so in uniquely supportive ways. Neptune in Aries will sextile Pluto in Aquarius through 2036, when they begin to separate a bit by degree. Its impact is on the collective could feel like a correction putting a greater emphasis on local community-focused initiatives that can literally change the world from the bottom up. It’s literally a new way of seeing ourselves, and our relationship to one another. One thing that may become more apparent is how we are all swimming in this great ocean of life together, and that together we can make a difference.

Uranus, now in Gemini, is trine Pluto and sextile Neptune for the next few years. Inventive. Brilliant. Uranus dares to show us that we don’t have to keep doing things the way we always have in the past. That there are better, more innovative ways of doing things that could literally transform the society that we live in. Once again this is only further strengthened by our recognition of our interconnection with one another socially, economically and globally. This becomes ever more intense as we approach July when all 3 planets, joined by Jupiter in Leo, all at 4º of their signs. It will become exact again in 2027 at 6º of their signs. And we are being brought along for the ride.

These are transits of change. Of innovation. Of Possibility. Of Hope. Jupiter’s opposition to Pluto will be the catalyst as shifts in power are becoming intolerable. This is a collective change, but we will all be participating in this inexorable shift, when humanity as a whole dares to take that step on to the next plateau of our evolutionary journey.
