As the editor of the Astrology Arizona newsletter, I compose an overview of each month. Today we take a look at the primary factors for the month.
The Overview for September
This month maintains the “Three Note Chord” of the double sextile-trine involving Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries, and Pluto in Aquarius, heralding the forces in play in the spiritual field of 2026 and beyond! The month begins with the exact Uranus sextile Neptune still in force, marking maximum transpersonal productivity in the collective field.
When Neptune entered Aries in early 2025, it began an entirely different collective vibe than we’ve ever known. We’re now firmly in the Pluto in Aquarius era through 2042, and Neptune’s begun its time in Aries which after a brief return to Pisces this Autumn, will resume in January 2026 and last through 2038.
All of the inner planets are still moving at a very fast pace, showing that a lot can get done. At the same time, we can expect a lot of adjustments and “expansion through sacrifice” thanks to the numerous quincunxes and Yods, or Fingers of God, made by planets transiting early Virgo and early Scorpio.
September begins under the beams of the August New Moon at 1 Virgo, showing a month of focused adjustments due to that Lunation being the nozzle of a Yod with Saturn/Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius. August was certainly a month of more than a few hard adjustments and sacrifices, with a need for seeing what’s core and what’s peripheral.
This month Jupiter moves deeper into its Cancer shadow zone, continuing a year of the ruler of our Sag and Pisces sectors being in the sign of personal feelings and the need to feel safe interacting with others. This is the Teacher in the sign of immediate and intimate feelings and experiences, encouraging us to fulfill basic necessities and explore closer connections with others in “our tribe.” As it moves into the second half of Cancer in mid-September, we’ll begin consolidating and integrating whatever we’ve been expanding into since June.
Saturn is retrograde, and on September 1 moves back into Pisces, giving us a review of when it transited 26-30 Pisces in April and May. So this month we get “echoes of May” which can give us a different understanding of what we want to see made manifest in 2026 as many things fall apart. Our Summer “dress rehearsal” has shown us what’s coming in early 2026, and now we get to clean up and clean out that which has outlived its usefulness.
Neptune went retrograde at 3 Aries, the “avatar” degree in early July. This degree announces the future appearance of new world leaders, and new players on the various stages of life. And because Saturn went RX at 2 Aries in mid-July we’ve been learning objectivity through humor, and humor through objectivity.
Looking back, because the March-April Venus retrograde was from 11 Aries to 25 Pisces, and Mercury’s retrograde was from 10 Aries to 27 Pisces, it made late Pisces and early Aries active zones with themes which will be triggered as Saturn moves through both RX zones. It began its long run in that span of degrees between May 2025 and May 2026. As Saturn moves across those stationary direct points in Pisces, the cosmic timekeeper will begin crystalizing those themes into form between this month and February 2026.
The action is in the houses where we have Cancer, Leo, Virgo, and Libra. This emphasizes intimate and creative interactions, and heralds new ideals which will take shape in October. Mars in Libra is helping us find a balanced and reasonable approach to things, with intense Yods to come when it enters Scorpio and makes quincunxes to Neptune and Uranus. These will be replicated in October by Mercury and then the Sun, so look to the Mars Yod as a practice run for October.
Saturn went SD on a degree of showing courage as we focus our spiritual will. Those themes will be in play through November when new themes will replace the old ones. Saturn occupying the first 2 degrees of Aries in June, July, and August gave us a dress rehearsal for what we can expect in 2026. We’re been in a period of “Stepping out of the ocean on to dry land” for the first time since 1996.
With Saturn re-entering Pisces this month, take another look at what needs purifying before we launch into a new life and new world of activity in February, March, and April. We’ll say goodbye to a lot this Autumn and by Winter we’ll be on our way. Abundance is promised for all of us in 2026, and with both Saturn and Neptune in Aries for a long time, it’ll be a new collective atmosphere!
The Spiritual Field
We continue to be blessed by the closest Neptune sextile with Pluto in 30 years. We’re now between two eras: the past/present of Uranus in Taurus, Neptune in Pisces, and Pluto in Capricorn, and the present/future of Uranus in Gemini, Neptune in Aries, and Pluto in Aquarius. Each of these “three note chords” creates a powerful linkage in the Spiritual field of productive stability according to the signs involved.
We began an entirely new experience of Spirit and Life when these Spiritual powerhouses shifted out of Earth and Water into Fire and Air. This is Life and Spirit expressed as a new inspiration, with Saturn in Aries providing “real world structure” which crystallizes the preliminary Fire and Air harmonic consciousness.
That means 2024 and early 2025 spiritually harmonized planets we have in late Earth and Water signs, while the Summer brought us the same thing for planets we have in the early degrees of the Fire and Air signs. This holds through September and early October, but by early November Uranus will be back in Taurus and Neptune will be back in Pisces, giving us a “last look back” at those energies before we cut loose into the new spiritual field of Fire and Air next March.
Uranus will occupy the first two degrees of Gemini from early July through early November, heralding new discoveries and the arrival of “Santa Claus” for those affected by 2 Gemini. We can expect a lot of breakthroughs with Uranus in Gemini, as well as new ideas, new interpretations, and new ways of understanding things.
We’ve been moving through an individual and spiritual awakening which marks the beginning of a long term regeneration and renewal wherever we have late Taurus. This is the next step of the 14 year cycle which began in April 2024 with the Jupiter/Uranus conjunction promising us all a new life.
Neptune in Aries is spreading a new type of energy which will “be in fashion” in the collective consciousness for decades to come. It’s now going stationary retrograde on the “avatar” degree at 3 Aries. That degree promises us new “avatars,” new world leaders, and new icons of an Aries nature through this century and beyond.
Pluto in Aquarius puts us on the cusp of historic change. Its last RX station at 4 Aquarius now begins a review of what will heal us, or perhaps a sense of our inner regenerative power to “make things whole.” This degree is about hidden powers being made manifest in some form of healing or “restoration of health.” So open to your latent “healing powers,” or abilities to restore a natural harmony to circumstances. Be fearless in making decisions, as this month helps us turn away from useless loyalties and obedience to authoritarian ideas.
We also have several long wave Aries cycles in play. Jupiter launched a major healing and mentoring cycle when it conjuncted Chiron at 15 Aries on March 11, 2023. That began a long wave Chiron cycle which will last until the Summer of 2036.
Not all Chiron cycles are the same length. When Chiron transits between Aquarius and Gemini, it moves relatively slowly and has conjunctions with Jupiter about every 13 years. However, it can take 19-20 years for the next conjunction after Gemini or Cancer. That means once the conjunction at 16 Gemini happens in the Summer of 2036 we won’t have another conjunction of Jupiter and Chiron until the Spring of 2056 in Aquarius, which will launch another long term “expansive healing/mentoring” cycle.
Mars
Mars is now picking up speed for many months to come after going SD at 18 Cancer in late February. This month it’s accelerating and moves through the second half of Libra and the first face of Scorpio and in a harmonious sextile with Venus in the second, third, and fourth weeks of September, making a “fateful” septile at the end of the month.
This month Mars activates the house(s) where we have 17 Libra through 6 Scorpio. September 1-7 finds Mars between 17 and 20 Libra, creating an agitating effect on planets we have between 17 to 20 degrees of Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. September 7 through 22 will create the same effects for those with planets between 20 to 30 degrees of the same signs, and September 22 through 30 will agitate planets between 1 and 6 degrees of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius.
As I’ve offered before, when Mars is within a degree of forming or separating from a hard aspect with a planet, slow down and show deliberation and caution in how you use force. Hard aspects to/from Mars require that we moderate or antidote impulsiveness and impatience.
We’re Actors On A New Stage With A New Set – The Bigger Picture
We’re still in the initial years of a new era in human evolution. The Grand Mutation of Jupiter conjunct Saturn at 1 Aquarius began a new 20 year Aquarian Era in December 2020, as well as a new 200 year era, moving global energies out of Earth and into Air. We’ve begun to grow beyond the materialism of the past 200 years and have entered 2 centuries of Air emphasis, with its qualities of relatedness, receptivity, versatility, movability, lightness, and cooperative ideas, visions, and ideals.
We’re still "under the beams" of the Solar Eclipses of 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025, and these “cosmic recyclers” continue to remove what we no longer need in our lives. Take note of where you have 1 Cancer, 24 and 13 Sagittarius, 20 Gemini, 10, 20 and 30 Aries, 11 Taurus, 11 and 22 Libra, and 2 Scorpio, since we’ve all had to let go of many things related to these sectors the past few years. We have two more eclipses coming this month, a Lunar eclipse at 16 Virgo/Pisces, and a Solar eclipse at 30 Virgo. Both of these begin endings wherever they hit in your chart. You can find out more about Solar and Lunar eclipses by going to my numerous articles in the archives on how eclipses work.
As we study how successive Eclipses have affected various areas of our charts and lives, we can get a sense of the utility of these “Cosmic Recyclers” in removing what we no longer needed in those areas, creating a void which attracted new experiences. They invite us to see the continuity of “letting go, taking in, letting go, taking in” across the years.
Primary Action Beats for the First Half of the Month
As mentioned, September begins under the beams of the late August New Moon at 1 Virgo, bringing a lot of sacrifices and hard adjustments while it’s in play through the Equinox. Retire from old dramas and contemplate the heart energies being released, as this is a month to cultivate love.
The first week of the month shows Mercury making a quincunx to Saturn just before entering Virgo on September 2, after which it makes a quincunx to Neptune, creating an “offset Yod.” Sharing, non-possessiveness, and discernment are the qualities to express. It then squares Uranus, giving an ability to find a set of “liberating ideas” which will bring protection and lift us to “surer foundations.”
Other major events of the first week include Mars square Jupiter on September 4, so if you’re called to do something, do it in a big way while avoiding waste or extravagance. Get above the strife and ugliness while accepting a challenge to accelerate your growth. September 6 brings Uranus going stationary retrograde at 2 Gemini, the “Santa Claus” degree, showing future blessings to come as that degree is triggered by other transits.
The Moon moves from Sagittarius to Pisces during the first week, helping us to find new approaches, new disciplines, and a renewed vision. On September 7, the New Moon of late August will begin to fulfull its “seed purpose” at the Full Moon Lunar eclipse just after Uranus goes stationary retrograde. That will be a “turning point” eclipse, with adjustments in our values and likes as we glimpse distant possibilities which likely won’t be developed until January.
The second week begins with the Full Moon at 16 Virgo/Pisces, after which there is maximum productivity of Sun sextile Jupiter and Mercury sextile Jupiter. The “fusion of Mind and Life” of the September 13 Superior conjunction of Mercury with the Sun at 21 Virgo is on a degree of stimulation through group exercise.
This will impact us for many weeks to come, so develop the physical to find personality integration. As Venus is sextile Mars the second week, we should see productive harmony in our interactions.
The Moon moves from Pisces to Cancer the second week of the month, so things will seem a bit faster than usual. We should be able to get a lot done on September 7, 8, 11, and 12. Be cautious and responsible on September 9, and while the morning of the 14th should go well, the afternoon and evening brings crosscurrents.
Primary Action Beats for the Second Half of the Month
The third week begins with the exact Venus sextile Mars with a mixed bag of aspects the entire week in the run up to the Solar Eclipse of September 21 at 30 Virgo, promising the removal of all which keeps us in “a narrow destiny.” Other aspects the third week of September include Mercury quincunx Chiron, Venus trine Chiron, and Mars opposed Chiron on the 16th, followed by Mercury opposed Saturn, entering Libra, and then opposing Neptune while making trines to Uranus and Pluto, recreating the Grand Air Trine set up by Mars in late August.
On the 18th as Mercury makes the Grand Air Trine, Venus quincunxes Saturn and the Sun quincunxes Chiron, followed by Venus entering Virgo on the 19th and immediately creating a Yod with quincunxes to Neptune and Pluto while square Uranus. At the same time, we see Mars quincunx Saturn and Sun opposed Saturn, so the third week of September has a lot of hard adjustments, sacrifices, and realizations.
The third week ends and the fourth begins with the Solar eclipse, so get ready to leave the past behind this Autumn into the Spring. Immediately after the eclipse Mars enters Scorpio, we have the Autumn Equinox, Mars makes a Yod with Neptune and Uranus through September 25 as the Sun makes a Grand Air Trine and opposes Neptune, creating the third of the four “Peace Sign” configurations made between early August and mid-October.
The Moon moves from Cancer to Libra the third week of September, and from Libra to Capricorn through the end of the month. We have excellent Lunar aspects on September 16, 18, the afternoons of the 20th, 21st, all day the 25th and 26th, and the afternoon and evening of the 29th.
As noted the last 10 days of September feature the Grand Air Trine of the Equinox, Mars entering Scorpio and making a Yod with Neptune and Uranus while squaring Pluto, so adjust and try not to let things get blown out of proportion, even if you have to turn the corner and/or say goodbye.
Evolutionary Development
This is the eighth month of the North Node in Pisces era! This is a time to grow through empathy, compassion, and forgiveness, demonstrated through our sense of service. We will grow in our “nonlocal awareness” and tune into what Neptune and Saturn have taught us about Pisces while “showing what we know” wherever we have late Virgo.
The Sun in Virgo is a time to take the Light of new “radiations of heart energy” of Leo and give them “significant form” in Virgo, where we learn that “to rule is to serve.” We are now able to ground a lot in practical forms and structures, and should be able to make a lot of progress in whatever we do. Now that we’ve looked back via Mercury in August, we all have messages to give and receive in September and October.
Because we’re in the fifth year of a new 20 year and 200 year cycle, remember a new era has dawned. Have courage and take the initiative to leave the Earth and fly free as the Grand Mutation expands its promise into the Divine transfigured ideal of a more just truth and future. While the old dies, the new has arrived!
Even though the ideal is far away, we are the midwives and mid-husbands to a new way of relating to Life, Energy, Consciousness, each other, and the Earth Herself. Because our essential nature is Loving Wisdom, remember to lighten up, play a little, and be willing to explore new arenas of effective activity where you can work and play with other Light Spirits. This is the time to take heart as we navigate the dawning of the Pluto in Aquarius era.
We are now collectively transfiguring into a greater vision of the one Light/Life we all are together. Continue to find your heart strength and new forms of genuine happiness appropriate for who you are now, and who you are becoming relative to just a few months ago.
We now navigate the cosmic time-space between endings and beginnings so bless and forgive much to flow down the time stream. The past is over and we all have begun our trek into a new world of new potential, new adventures, and new ways to enjoy being ourselves while doing our work of Destiny. Open to the abundance of the process of growth, since we are all on a rocket ship to the stars!
