Times have been tumultuous for sure and it seems that every day there’s something else to marvel or wonder about or to slap our foreheads with dismay all the way to feeling anger at things unfolding. World events, particularly in the U.S. but definitely every where, feel unpredictable and yet so many actually feel predictable because it’s always the same shite. Time feels as though it’s speeding up as well. It’s late June already. Jeez.

I always notice when Cancer 27 is activated, although to be accurate all the degrees are continuously activated by something – even by the transiting ascendant. It is somewhat rare though, to see it being this ‘highlighted’ (I couldn’t think of the right word but that will do) as much as it is currently and more so in the next several weeks. And it holds the potential of being rather (or perhaps very ) tumultuous.

Venus and Jupiter on Cancer 27

So, here’s part of the picture: Venus and Jupiter very recently conjuncted on Cancer 27: A VIOLENT STORM IN A RESIDENTIAL CANYON FILLED WITH VALUABLE HOMES (zodiacally it’s 26+ Cancer, you always add one to the degree to get the Sabian Symbol). To be exact, the conjunction was a few moments of degree off conjuncting exactly, but that would merely be splitting hairs. Jupiter sat on Cancer 27 for five or six days in mid June and Venus came along and amplified it. Of course, Venus and Jupiter are the two primary benefics of the planets, and they can bring in a sense of luck, abundance, love, relationship and all kinds of good energies and events. However, these two together can (but obviously not necessarily) bring about far too much excess, jealousy – envy, the desire to win at the expense of others (or at the expense of our own lives), taking too big of a risk perhaps, gambling with things that we might not fully understand, etc.

On a much more positive note, Venus and Jupiter on this ‘Storm’ Symbol can blow out the cobwebs, usher in fresh new air, bring more and more things to light, have us seeing into situations that have perhaps been cloaked and ‘in the dark’, perceiving others in a different way as their self interest and self centered actions are revealed, motivations discovered that perhaps need to be reformed or fixed, perhaps acknowledged and apologized for, etc. Indeed, as with all of the 360 Sabian Symbols, no matter what their ‘obvious message’ there can always be a positive side, a positive outcome and possibilities as life has to just work like that . And Cancer 27 with it’s ‘Storm’ can be as refreshing as the breaking through of energies after a period of static electricity that can have our hair standing on end.

Further, Venus and Jupiter conjuncting are setting off a new cycle of events,

and, the effects are not just confined to the period of the actual conjunction. Having said that, it’s really too big of a story to expand on here – suffice to say that this conjoining of Venus and Jupiter can bring very real and meaningful change, realizations, epiphanies even, circumstances, people, etc., to our lives and can change (at least in some or even in many ways) our lives. A lot of it, as usual, depends on our mindsets, circumstances, etc. The ol’ thinking positively can work wonders, always, but especially in our present.

The energy of the ‘Storm’ can be whipped up in our external world and we may see it playing out in the media with world events, weather events (the horrendous earthquake in Venezuela for instance), sudden shocks, etc. I want to be clear that your house will not necessarily fall down (metaphorically or otherwise) – and this degree, particularly with Venus, Jupiter and then Mercury transiting it can bring about incredible insights erupting from our subconscious – psychic, creative and brilliant messages can come through and some of these could, yes, be disruptive but the ‘storm’ (whatever it is) can blow away the past in surprising ways, clearing the path for new beginnings – sometimes with jolts of ‘awareness’. I don’t want to instill fear from making this post but I do want to have people be aware that this energy is going on. It’s pretty enormous but thank goodness (or at least thank something) that it’s Venus, Jupiter and Mercury.

Cancer 27 Sabian Symbol

Cancer 27: A VIOLENT STORM IN A RESIDENTIAL CANYON FILLED WITH VALUABLE HOMES.

Yes, it can be gnarly. I’ve seen its manifestations while in Florida years ago when they had three (or was it four?) hurricanes in a row. Saturn was on this degree and I was doing a lecture tour of Florida, landing in Orlando and staying at a house that just the night before got hit by a hurricane – hundred year old oak trees had fallen on my hosts house. Three more hurricanes came and I’d come from Australia to do a speaking tour – oh well, I survived as some lost their houses, animals, etc. Here was me, stuck for several days staying in situations that were uncomfortable (to say the least). I then drove across Florida in a rental on the other side of the road from what I’m accustomed to and without a GPS or phone, palm trees and housing materials flying through the air (you get the drift).

Dane Rudhyar in his 1973 book An Astrological Mandala has this degree – Cancer 27 – as A VIOLENT STORM IN A CANYON FILLED WITH EXPENSIVE HOMES. I can see how it can be ‘expensive’ (absolutely) but I’ve always felt that one’s home is ‘valuable’, regardless of the value, worth or even stability of where people are living – hence I changed the wording of the Symbol in my work. It’s about a roof over one’s head and all of that. So, when I wrote my book The Sabian Oracle: 360 Degrees Of Wisdom, I changed the word ‘expensive’ to ‘valuable’.

BTW, I’m not currently promoting my book for sale as the tariffs out of the US are making it almost impossible for me to deal with the extra paperwork in order to post to that market. And, it’s my major market and the extra work and commitment to sign up to administer the tariff is untenable (definitely not worth it).

So, the benefic planets, Venus and Jupiter (I will add that all the planets have their shadow side so it’s not necessarily all goodness and grace and luck and love), are lighting up this ‘Storm’ Sabian Symbol. Then, Mercury turns retrograde on this degree during the last few days of June, standing stationary on it for several days and then crossing over it again a few weeks after Mercury goes direct.

Mercury will sit stationary retrograde on Cancer 27 – the ‘Furious Storm Degree’ from June 27 until July 2nd. It’s certainly going to be interesting over the coming weeks as Mercury is likely to be signaling some very strong energies coming through. We are hearing some not so subtle threats of nuclear bombs being ‘employed’ all the way to all sorts of ‘storms’ erupting politically. World events are showing people on the streets or otherwise protesting on several fronts.

An example from my own neck of the woods: I live in Katoomba in Sydney’s Blue Mountains, a divine area that is very much like the Grand Canyon only covered in eucalypts and native animals and beautiful birds. I live some 400 meters from the escarpment of one of this area’s major canyons (A Storm In A Canyon). This area is a UNESCO World Heritage area and is still a rather pristine area (tourists by the busloads all year long withstanding). We have our issues, particularly elevated levels of PFAS and PFOS in our drinking water, amongst other things. And, a datacenter is being planned to be placed in a residential area right next to a primary school (five to twelve year olds) in this delicate space and the residents aren’t having it.

The Sydney Morning Herald had an article this morning (Saturday the 26th June here in Australia), basically announcing victory in our fight against this monstrosity, with a paragraph being ignored at the end of the article (the media obfuscates, lies, misleads, distorts).

In the battle between data centres and NSW residents, the humans have claimed a victory.

An application for a data centre to be built in the heart of the Blue Mountains is set to be withdrawn following an outcry from residents and councillors.

The $4.8 million development application, part of a wave of data centres planned for NSW, was lodged with the Blue Mountains City Council in April. It proposed a data centre to be built on Barton Street in North Katoomba – on a residential street, next to a park, and a block from a school.

The proposal garnered significant backlash as community activists described the development as a “threat to peace”, with 24/7 low-frequency noise intrusion among other concerns. Locals expressed concern for pressures on electricity and water supplies, potential PFAS exposure and insufficient bushfire protections.

MAK Urban Group general manager Mohammad Hammoud confirmed this week the developer would be withdrawing the application.

“We remain confident that data centre infrastructure can deliver significant economic, employment and digital connectivity benefits to regional communities,” he said in a statement.

“However, throughout the assessment process we have listened closely to the views expressed by local residents, community groups and other stakeholders … Rather than continue with the current application, we have chosen to step back and undertake further consideration of the proposal.” (My emphasis).

As I speak regularly with Letitia Kemister, one of the major figures (a tireless and very effective campaigner) in the protest against this datacenter, I was aware of the original development application to the Council containing ‘errors’ and needing to be rewritten, and, with one eye on Mercury stationing currently and about to go retrograde, I knew that this was a false piece of hope and optimism. They are obviously not ‘stepping back’ and will be applying for a new DA. The ‘fight’ is not over in other words, and, I wish it were otherwise as no doubt do thousands of people everywhere in the world that are being threatened by this extreme incursion into our lives.

Mayor Mark Greenhill said the idea of such a development in the Blue Mountains, a city contained within a World Heritage site, was “diabolical”.

Greenhill says that the withdrawal is a victory for the community. “This is a welcome, mature reflection from the applicant. I am heartened to hear that the views of the community matter to them,” he said.

“Anything that threatens the local environment in Blue Mountains will raise the ire of our community and of the council.”

Jackie Manners, who played a key role in resisting the proposal, described the news of the application’s withdrawal as waking up from a nightmare.

“We’ve been fighting this force that we didn’t know we would be able to stop and this horrible feeling that … it would change the whole of our little village.”

Hammoud did not rule out the possibility of a future development application.

“Should a revised concept be pursued in the future, we are committed to engaging with the community at an early stage and incorporating that feedback into the design and development process before any future proposal is finalised,” he said.

And yet the article sings the praises of the community having a victory. The manipulation is on full display. Hear the manipulation?

So, we have Mercury retrograde for the next three weeks. Time to perhaps rethink many things and no doubt a good time for healing. For the record, Mercury will yet again pass over Donald Trumps Venus/Saturn conjunction and that will no doubt be extremely noteworthy. There’s loads to say on that.
